KitKeeper was developed over the course of one year in collaboration with the Seattle Public Library; below is a partial feature list and a few links to libraries currently using KitKeeper.
Key patron features:
- Kit discoverability. Patrons are able to view cover images, book descriptions, link to reviews;
- View current and future kit availability dates;
- Patrons can reserve a kit from by picking from a drop down list of kits, choosing a specific kit, or by seeing kits available for a given month;
- Ability to reserve a specific kit at a specific time, and if available, specify a pick-up library;
- Patrons can receive reminder emails regarding kit pickup date and location;
- Patrons can also receive an email when kits are due back to the library.
Key kit management features available to libraries:
- Add patron authentication to ensure that kit borrowers have accounts in good standing;
- Generate statistics on kit usage;
- Filter kits by author, age group, genre, or title;
- Generate a configurable selection of patron directed emails as you wish;
- Email overdue notices to library patrons;
- Include links to your kits within your catalog;
- Create configurable header text instructions for patrons to review;
- Print out kit specific routing slips;
- Login into the Staff Action Table to review required and time sensitive staff administrative actions of the day;
- Increase your KitKeeper subscription’s capabilities by using it to allow patrons to research and reserve borrowable mobile devices;
- Display staff only kits and resources, such as programing kits or equipment, that can only be reserved by library staff people;
- Ability to set different check out periods for different kits.
