Setup
During the initial KitKeeper setup process, we will send you a spreadsheet for you to fill in with all of your kit titles. We will upload all of those kits for you. If you want to add kits one by one, you can use the procedure below. Otherwise, contact us and we will send you another blank spreadsheet for titles and we will upload the new titles for you.
Adding a kit
- Login as Admin
- Under the KitKeeper Management heading, click on the Add/ Modify Information button next to Kits.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Add New Kit.
- Fill in the fields within page. The Org Code will be filled in for you.
Tips
- During the configuration process, we will fill in a sample book kit record for you. Simply click on the Edit button next to the existing sample record to see how certain fields are filled in.
- Kit Reservation Type field – This will be either Fixed or Flex. For more information about what this means, please see What is the difference between Fixed and Flexible reservations?
- Teams– “Teams” is a term used to link editors and kits. Editors are assigned to a team based on what library they work in i.e. staff at the Mayflower Library would be on the Mayflower team. Kits that are owned by the Mayflower Library would also be assigned to the Mayflower team. Mayflower team members can only track, edit and delete kits that are assigned to the Mayflower team. This would prevent libraries from editing records belonging to other libraries.
- Number of Spare Copies of Book– This field is optional and can be used to indicate if there are extra copies of that specific title that can be used to replace damaged or missing copies within a kit. It does not indicate how many extra copies of the title exist on the shelf for check out.
- Confirmation and Rejection Text - This field is fully customizable and can either be the same for all of your kits or unique for each one. For samples and examples of this text, please see Sample text for kit reservation confirmation and rejection.
