Book Discussion: Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society
10:30 AM
Join us to discuss the Reading Across Rhode Island selection for 2010, “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”, by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. The Rhode Island Center for the Book at Providence Public Library chose this novel set in 1946 on the island of Guernsey in the UK. An exchange of letters reveals the experiences of the islanders during the German occupation in WWII, and explains how the society of the title came to be. The RARI project is a state-wide community read which always concludes with a May Breakfast at the Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet, scheduled for May 1 this year. Free and open to the public: no registration required.
