The Abington Public Library will welcome back Abington resident Michael Brophy, a professional genealogical researcher and heir search specialist to lecture on Saturday November 16 at 2:00 PM. Mr. Brophy will speak about the genealogical challenges and impacts created by the Orphan Train movement which transported a total of roughly 250,000 orphaned, abandoned and homeless children from eastern cities to the mid-west from 1854 to 1929.
Brophy was featured on the Irish TV series “Dead Money,” a genealogy TV show about heir searchers. In 2010, Brophy was hired to conduct research for the NBC television program “Who Do You Think You Are?” on an episode dedicated to the family history of actress Gwyneth Paltrow
The program is funded by State Aid to Public Libraries. Registration is not required; space is available for sixty adult and older teen participants on a first-to-arrive basis.
