.EXPLORE SOLAR ECLIPSES

Monday, August 14

1:00 pm

We will be giving away a limited number of viewing glasses at this event.  One pair per family while supplies last.

In preparation for the upcoming solar eclipse, join Katryn Wiese, Professor of Earth Sciences at City College of San Francisco,

for a review and exploration of solar eclipses, including their causes, frequency, locations, and diversity.

We will also demonstrate how to build a solar pinhole viewer and safely observe and experience this special event.

The talk will happen on Monday August 14 at 1 pm. The solar eclipse will occur 1 week later on Monday August 21 around 10 am. 

NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  DESIGNED FOR ALL AGES.

Safety glasses are provided by The STAR Library Education Network(STAR_Net), a hands-on learning network for libraries and their communities across the country. STAR_Net focuses on helping library professionals build their STEM skills by providing “science-technology activities and resources” (STAR) and training to use .those resources. Plus, engage public audiences nationwide in informal and lifelong learning with the excitement of exploration and discovery through new NASA@ My Library resources!
