"The Food that Feeds Us All: Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers in Maine"  with Jan Morrill and  Rosi

Presented in partnership with the Maine Multicultural Center

For 25 years, the Maine Mobile Health Program (MMHP) has addressed the health needs of migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families. Each year the program connects with over 1500 farmworkers in more than 60 labor camps, worksites and community locations in Maine. MMHP has worked to address social determinants of health including access to education, employment, food security, and housing. The program uses community health workers to promote patient engagement and advocacy. In 2017, the National Association of Community Health Centers recognized MMHP as the Outstanding Migrant Health Center of the year.

Jan Morrill is the Director of Advocacy for the organization. She oversees its legislative outreach and community engagement programs. She also works as a Community Health Worker with migrant farmworkers in Midcoast Maine.

Rosi Ontiveros lives in the Lewiston area, is a former farmworker and has extensive experience in health education for dairy and egg factory
workers.

Maine Multicultural Community Forums are free, public educational events sponsored by the Maine Multicultural Center. They will enlighten, challenge and provoke participants in support of the Multicultural Center's mission to "welcome and champion diversity as essential to the economic and social vitality of Maine."
