Out of extreme caution, effective Friday, March 13, we are suspending all programming and outreach activities through the end of March. This is in line with the CDC's recommendation to practice social distancing by avoiding contact less than 6 feet apart and group gatherings. As you are aware, many other libraries and organizations in Suffolk and beyond have adopted similar practices.
We are also temporarily taking board books and Community Closet items (giant games, projector, etc.) out of circulation, as well as removing all toys from the Children's Room.
In addition to these actions, we have increased the frequency of disinfecting all surfaces using EPA approved cleaning products. The Library will also continue our practice of being professionally cleaned and sanitized 3 times per week, with Staff taking extra actions daily. All of these measures are meant as an attempt to lessen the potential spread of COVID-19.
Like all of you, we hope that officials gain insight into this virus quickly so that we may stop this outbreak and return to our normal lives and activities. Until then, we will closely monitor the situation and keep the health and safety of our patrons and staff at the forefront of every decision. As information changes, we will update our website and social media accounts.
We thank you for understanding and wish all good health!
