.Via Zoom link:  By 1787, the US government, which had been conceived in a spirit of extreme economic and social liberty, was failing. States were arguing with each other, money was scarce, and banks seemed to be favoring wealthy east-coast economic elites, while oppressing those struggling to expand the country’s borders on the western frontier. With Sahays’ Rebellion in the winter of 1786-87, the fragility of the government finally gave way to a general cry for some solution to the problem. This presentation details the background of the Constitution, as well as discussing the document itself, which has served the country for over 200 years, despite being written quickly and in secret.
