Your health and safety are our top concern, so we are modifying this event to reflect that.  For anybody unfamiliar with this program, the “normal” description is provided below the modified version to give you an idea of the scope of the event when it is held on-site.

The return of this program for children ages 3-7 years old takes place on the third Friday (except Jan.) every month through March 2021 TENTATIVELY.  Those registered will pick up project kits (for some sessions only) which will accompany the virtual part of the program (pick-up details & virtual link to be provided during & after registering). 

This special STEAM Ahead story time will have the participation of the South Central CT Regional Water Authority for this fun and completely virtual educational workshop on chromatography!  Kids, with adult supervision, will have some fun experimenting with water in a whole new colorful way for this session.

Normal, On-Site Event Description

The Derby Public Library invites preschoolers to a weekly Friday morning program.  S.T.E.A.M. Ahead is a blend of story time and hands-on activities that lend to exploring the world of science, technology, engineering, art, and math at a preschool level.  Discovery through interactive experiments will lead participants to a basic understanding of such topics as how plants grow, weather, math, science, using shapes, and more.  Children will attend this story time on their own while a caregiver remains in the Children’s Room.
