Join us on Slack (see instructions below) for an online discussion of The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Copies are available in regular print, large print, audio on CD and digital media player, also as an Overdrive / Libby eBook and eAudio and as a Hoopla eAudio. When the library opens to the public, we will have copies available to pick up. In the meantime, please place a hold on a copy and pick it up at a different local library or use the digital resources. Just let us know if you would like help.
Description: Set in the near future, it describes life in what was once the United States and is now called the Republic of Gilead, a monotheocracy that has reacted to social unrest and a sharply declining birthrate by reverting to, and going beyond, the repressive intolerance of the original Puritans.
