Today's film will be: "Babette’s Feast" (Danish, 1987)

Based on the 1958 short story by Isak Dinesen, Babette’s Feast follows the lives of Babette Hersant, a political refugee, who comes to live on the remote western coast of Jutland with repressed and religious sisters Marine and Filippa. The two spinster sisters preside over a dwindling, but faithful elderly congregation started by their pious and authoritative late father. Through a series of unexpected circumstances, Babette’s presence in the village changes the dynamics of the congregation via her skills at cooking, and the introduction of the idea of how the sensuality of food forms its own community.
