With every new social media outlet that arrives on the scene, you think “Should our library join? What would we post? Who would manage it?” This workshop will allow you to make informed and intentional decisions about the kinds of social media marketing your library engages in. You will receive an overview of Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr. For each outlet you will learn:
• The kind of audience that is typically present on these platforms;
• What other libraries are doing with these tools;
• How much staff time and effort is involved in managing them;
• How to evaluate success;
• And in what ways libraries are benefitting from using this technology (return on investment).
