Add this Event to Calendar 02/06/2017 09:30 AM 02/06/2017 03:00 PM Play: Putting Together the Pieces with Betsy Diamant-Cohen [Shrewsbury]

Play: Putting Together the Pieces looks seriously at play by reintroducing participants to the concept of play; increasing the understanding of play in the context of the second edition of Every Child Ready to Read® and the seven essential life skills every child needs from Mind in the Making; highlighting the important role played by parents, caregivers and librarians; and offering developmental tips to share with parents and caregivers.

Participants will examine toys and technology, learn new ways to showcase library programs, and how to create early literacy spaces that foster positive play between parents and children. Hands-on activities will be combined with video clips to give participants a playful, meaningful day with practical tips that can be put immediately into action.

Youth Services librarians, especially those with a significant responsibility for very young children are encouraged to attend. They will learn about the importance of play as proven by scientific studies, and how library programs and early literacy spaces can be better used to foster positive play between parents and children.

Snow date: Wednesday Feb. 8th at the MLS Marlboro office.

Co-sponsored by MBLC & MLS. Coffee will be served, please bring a bag lunch.
