"The Untold Lie" Included in Winesburg, Ohio: A Group of Tales of Ohio Small-Town Life (1919) by Sherwood Anderson

"The Untold Lie" is the story of two farm laborers. Ray is a serious-minded family man who leads a simple life, and Hal has a reputation as a fighter and womanizer. When Hal sets out to do the right thing by a girl he has gotten in trouble, Ray begins to question his own identity. Winesburg, Ohio: A Group of Tales of Ohio Small-Town Life is considered one of the 100 Best English Language Books of the Twentieth Century.
