In honor of Veterans Day, the Monmouth County Library will be featuring a virtual program through the month of November conducted by the Florian Schantz Jazz Combo. This concert will be available to view via the Library's webpage. Registration is not needed.
The Florian Schantz Jazz Combo will present a virtual program of music from World War I. Highlighting songs that were popular between 1914 and 1918, the band will offer a mix of early Dixieland, military music and other standards, accompanied by educational content and narrative to honor our veterans and the anniversary of the WWI armistice.
The band is led by 19-year-old professional trumpet player Florian Schantz, who formed the group when he was 9 years old; since then, Florian has performed over 550 engagements across NJ, NY, CT and Germany with his band, including performances for almost 90 tri-state area libraries. Also appearing with the group are Rup Chattopadhyay on trombone and tuba, Margaret Schantz on fluegelhorn, and Lowell Schantz on guitar.
Permission to present a program on behalf of the Virtual Library or in Library facilities is not an endorsement by the Library. This program is protected by copyright law; recording in any manner, without written agreement from the presenter, is strictly prohibited.
