Shinrin-yoku or Forest Bathing

DESCRIPTION:

De-stress from the busy modern world by connecting to nature on a guided Forest Bathing walk! Forest Bathing is a slow mindful walk that focuses on our senses and the nature around us. The walk includes activities to help us connect with the natural world. We will stop to gather and sit and reflect on our experience. The walk will be two hours long and includes a tea ceremony at the conclusion.  

Forest Bathing is an ancient practice in Japan called Shinrin-Yoku, which literally means, “forest bathing”. Spending time in the forest promotes healing and wellness. Research shows forest bathing lowers cortisol levels and blood pressure among other benefits.

Join Linda Pietropaolo, a Certified Forest Bathing Guide trained by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy on a forest bathing walk.

What to Bring

Bring water. Wear comfortable clothing and good shoes for walking on trails. Bring anything else you may want to be comfortable outdoors and possibly sit on the ground (hat, neck warmer, mittens, etc.) I will have yoga mats squares to sit on.

Cold Weather

Please dress in layers for cooler weather and consider hat, neck warmer, mittens, warm socks etc. Wear one more layer than you may think you need because we will be moving slowly.

Rainy Weather

The walk will still proceed if it is raining. If it is a downpour or storm the walk will be canceled for that day. If it is raining, wearing a waterproof jacket and pants is important to stay dry and warm. You can also bring an umbrella if you like.  

Linda will lead the walk in the Prospect Park area.
