Name Celebrating the Grand Reopening of Springfield's Union Station
Start 2017/06/20 at 05:00:00 PM
End 2017/06/20 at 07:45:00 PM
Description (old)

Join us for a preview of the long awaited grand reopening of the revitalized Union Station.  The featured speaker will be Christopher J. Moskal, executive director of the Springfield Redevelopment Authority, who is in charge of overseeing the $95 million "from the ground up" construction of the 91-year-old building.  The opening of both a new $950-million MGM casino in downtown Springfield along with the stunning renovation of Union Station will help bring much needed jobs, economic development, student mobility,  and tourism to the city.  The new station will include a 377-space garage, food services, retail space, a 27-bay bus terminal and 64,000 square feet of office space.

The program will also have Josh Rickman, Pioneer Valley Transit Authority Manager of Operations & Planning to talk about their move into Union Station. He will also talk about their futuristic, fuel efficient electric buses.

Also discussed will be a progress report on the possibility of future expansion of Boston to Springfield passenger train service.
