In this class, you will be introduced to the amazing and challenging art medium, watercolor. You don’t need to have any painting experience to take this class. You will learn the principles of watercolor, how to mix and apply color, use various items such as sponges, salt and toothbrush to achieve certain effects. This is a relaxing and enjoyable time to get in touch with your inner artist. Below is a list of supplies you should bring:
Large coffee can or container to hold water
Bring whatever you choose to work with (please avoid bringing paint set with very small wells of color) Watercolor paints can get expensive, but you are better off purchasing a few important colors, by Windsor Newton (in small tubes) than a bunch of poor quality paints that won’t provide good results. (Colors should include: red, green, yellow, brown, blue) Any and all shades of these will work.
A large thick towel that you can use (and you won’t be able to use for anything but painting again)
A set of ‘watercolor’ brushes. (If you only bring or purchase 2 or 3, these sizes are desirable: 14, 12, 10, 8, 6
A white plastic paint palette or at least 4-6 large plastic dinner plates (not paper or Styrofoam)
Sea sponge (you don’t need a huge one, even a few approx. 2 inch pieces torn off a big one is fine)
A $20 fee is payable by check only at time of registration.
