Bedford Events Calendar Guidelines: The Town of Bedford in collaboration with Bedford Public Schools, Bedford Community Partnership, and Bedford Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to make available a Town Events Calendar on-line through the Town of Bedford web site. The purpose of the on-line calendar is to increase citizen awareness of and participation in large community-wide events and decrease scheduling conflicts, especially for families with children and who might be involved in several activities. When large community events overlap or are scheduled simultaneously, not only does it add stress to families who try to participate or who need to get children to these activities but also it adds stress to our systems – police, fire, and public works particularly in accommodating traffic, security, and emergency procedures. The on-line Town Events Calendar enables the Town and School to post the significant events intended to draw a large number of citizens. Other organizations can check this master schedule before arranging their own event so as to maximize participation by not double-booking. Events to be listed on the Town Events Calendar will be special events of the community. This would include meetings that affect every member of the Bedford community or a significant portion. The calendar is not designed to list routine meetings involving small groups. The Town maintains a separate public meeting calendar on the Town web site for meeting of Town boards and committees. Examples of the Town and School listings that will ordinarily be listed on this Events Calendar include Annual and Special Town Meetings, Town elections, Hazardous Waste Collection days, Pole Capping Day, Concerts on the Common, Bedford Day, School graduations, and school plays to name a few. In sponsoring this Town Events Calendar the Town of Bedford is attempting to provide a service for Bedford residents and assumes no scheduling responsibilities for listing organizations. The Town Events Calendar also relies on information provided by others and the Town of Bedford government assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of information contributed by them.
