The City of Bedford Animal Shelter and the Bedford Public Library need your help to provide a safe and healthy environment for the lost and forgotten animals that come to the shelter.

Our Santa Paws List includes:

  • High quality adult dog and cat food: Iams, Science Diet, Eukanuba, etc.
    (at-risk animals require higher nutritional standards).
  • Non-clumping clay cat litter - the cheap kind
  • High quality puppy and kitten food.
  • Bleach, dishwashing and laundry soap.
  • Any monetary donations

    City of Bedford Food Drive
The city's annual holiday food drive, spearheaded by the Fire Department begins November 2, and continues through December 31. You may drop off non-perishable food items at 1816 Bedford Road (Central Fire Station), 3940 Martin Drive (Fire Station #2) and 541 Bedford Road (Fire Station #3). Donations will be delivered to the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the North East Emergency Distribution in Hurst.

In addition, the Turkey Truck will be visiting the Central Fire Station to pick up donated frozen turkeys from 10:00am - 2:00pm only on Tuesday, November 17. You may drop your frozen turkeys at the Central Fire Station beginning at 7:00am. For more information, please contact Emergency Management Coordinator Chief Rick Nash at 817-952-2500.

    The City of Bedford would like to invite you and your family to the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration at the Old Bedford School on Tuesday, December 1, from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. There will be singing, stories, refreshments, a visit from Ol' Saint Nick and much more! Pictures will be available for purchase of $5. Santa will arrive at 6:00PM and will light the Holiday Tree shortly after. The Glenbrook Home Owners Association will be handing out information about their event A Night of Wonder, the proceeds of which will benefit the 6 Stones Mission Network, and help to bring a merry Christmas to families in the HEB community. Parking will be available at City Hall, 2000 Forest Ridge and the Bedford Library, 1805 L. Don Dodson. A hay ride will be available to take you to the Old Bedford School. Only handicapped parking will be available at the Old Bedford School.

Board books, finger puppets, musical instruments and sign language are used to enhance and bring to life the visual world of language to your baby.

In addition, movement and exercise is done in conjunction with nursery rhymes and singing provides added excitement.

Registration is required for this free library program.
Registration dates: May 17-19 and August 23-25.

    City of Bedford Food Drive
The city's annual holiday food drive, spearheaded by the Fire Department begins November 2, and continues through December 31. You may drop off non-perishable food items at 1816 Bedford Road (Central Fire Station), 3940 Martin Drive (Fire Station #2) and 541 Bedford Road (Fire Station #3). Donations will be delivered to the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the North East Emergency Distribution in Hurst.

In addition, the Turkey Truck will be visiting the Central Fire Station to pick up donated frozen turkeys from 10:00am - 2:00pm only on Tuesday, November 17. You may drop your frozen turkeys at the Central Fire Station beginning at 7:00am. For more information, please contact Emergency Management Coordinator Chief Rick Nash at 817-952-2500.
