Bedtime Story Hour will run from August 28 through December 18th. Registration is not required. Our story hour programs are funded by the Friends of the Library.

The Non-Fiction Book Club is an evening book discussion group, facilitated this month on a volunteer basis by former Library Trustee Will Adamczyk.  Books to be discussed may be reserved at the Library.  In November the group will be discussing  Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson    All are welcome to join the Non-Fiction Book Club for this conversation.

Did you know that the Abington Public Library has a telescope available for borrowing?  The Abington Public Library will host members of the Aldrich Astronomical Society who will introduce the public to the Library’s new telescope on Thursday November 30 at 7:00 PM.  Please join us for this family friendly presentation which will teach you how to use the new Library telescope to observe objects from your own backyard with a technique called star hopping.   Door prizes will be offered for all children, along with star viewing outside for all, weather permitting.   Registration is not required for this program; 60 people will be accommodated on a first-to-arrive basis. 

This telescope was funded by the Friends of the Abington Public Library, and will be maintained by the Aldrich Astronomical Society as part of their Library Telescope program.  The telescope will be available for borrowing from the Library beginning on December 6.

Ready… Set… Lego! Our library Lego Club is back for the school year, so get ready to use your imagination and build, build, build! Lego Club is for children in kindergarten and up, but we will have Duplos available for any younger friends who wish to create. Children attending the club must be accompanied by an adult. This program is from 3:30-4:30 and no registration necessary. A BIG thank you to all of the community members who donated the supplies that make this club possible.

Captivating, interactive and silly, kids will get a kick out of Mr. Vinny's stories told using an old-school projector! There might even be a chance to play a round or two of "Guess that Shadow"! Join us for an evening of spirited conversation.  This month we will discuss a novel about books and readers, The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald.  In this story, Sara travels all the way from Sweden to Broken Wheel, Iowa to meet her pen pal, Amy.  When Sara arrives, she discovers that Amy has just passed away.  Sara stays in Broken Wheel and opens a book shop to honor Amy's memory.  This is a story of friendship and reading which will delight book lovers.    Registration is not required for this program, and all are welcome to join the discussion, facilitated by Library Director Deb Grimmett.

The Abington Public Library will welcome back award-winning author Stephen Puleo on Thursday January 25 at 7:00 PM.  Puleo's most recent book, American Treasures tells the story of the creation and the secret efforts to save America's priceless documents:  the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Gettysburg Address.  Copies of American Treasures will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

Steve is an experienced, dynamic, and in-demand speaker and presenter, who has made more than 450 public appearances, before thousands of readers, since the publication of his first book, Dark Tide, in 2003.  All of Steve's books have been Boston regional bestsellers, as well as receiving favorable reviews in the Boston Globe and in national media such as the New York Times and the Associated Press.  Steve is a former award-winning newspaper reporter and contributor of feature stories and book reviews to publications that include American History Magazine and the Boston Globe.   Puleo has taught history at Suffolk University in Boston, and also has developed and taught numerous writing workshops for high school and college students, as well as for adults who aspire to be writers
