Dublin Library, and the TriValley CoderDojo are hosting another Hack The Future event on Saturday, August 16 from 10:00 - 5:00.
Hack The Future  is a one-day party where kids, Grades 5-12, learn about technology. Kids can possibly write their own computer games, create web pages, make mods for existing games like Minecraft, make something with a 3-D printer, play with robotics, and who knows what else? Available activities are dependent on available mentors. This is the second HtF event here at Dublin Library.

Hack the Future utilizes volunteer mentors. Mentors don’t instruct participants by telling them what to do, but provide a variety of starting points and suggestions for how the students can direct their own learning in technology. Kids are free to have fun and engage their creativity by independently exploring a host of offerings. The event is free, and lunch is included. The Friends of the Dublin Library are underwriting the cost of lunch.

Mona Lisa Smile

Set in 1953, Mona Lisa Smile tells the story of Katherine Watson (Julia Roberts), a new young art history professor at Wellesley College, an all-female campus with a prestigious reputation for academic excellence. Watson challenges her students and the Wellesley faculty to think outside of the current mores of the community and redefine what it means to be a success; meanwhile, she tries to come to terms with her own heart's desires. Mona Lisa Smile co-stars Marcia Gay Harden, Juliet Stevenson, and, as Watson's conflicting love interests, Dominic West and John Slattery. (2003; PG13, 117min)

Attorney George Derieg offers 15 minute free consultation and referrals on a wide variety of issues including estate planning, family, and criminal law. He does not cover landlord tenant disputes or foreclosures.

To make an appointment, please call (510) 795-2627 x7 when the library is open. If you are not going to be able to make your appointment, please call to cancel it.

The purpose of the consultation is to determine whether or not you have a legal problem and to provide guidance on how you might be able to solve your legal problem rather than for the attorney to provide in-depth legal analysis or advice. There is no continuing attorney/client relationship formed by your meeting with a volunteer attorney, but your discussion with the attorney will be confidential.

Dead Poets Society

The Welton Academy is a staid but well-respected prep school where education is a pragmatic and rather dull affair. Several of the students, however, have their thoughts on the learning process (and life itself) changed when a new teacher comes to the school. John Keating (Williams) is an unconventional educator who tears chapters of his textbooks and asks his students to stand on their desks to see the world from a new angle. (1989; PG, 128min)
