Winter Preschool Story Time at the Union City Library

Did you know that regular exposure to books and reading is one of the best ways to prepare your young child for reading and future success in school? A great way to introduce your 3 - 5 year-old child to the joy of reading is to bring them to Preschool Storytime at the Library!
No registration is required for this ten-week series running January 19 - March 23. The Union City Library Preschool Story Time, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, is a fun introduction to books, fingerplays
and stretches for our youngest Library patrons.

English/Mandarin Bilingual Storytime Plus

 Chinese New Year Parade today! Parents, please have your child wear traditional Chinese dress or Chinese New Year colors. The parade is held indoors in the library. Everyone is welcome to watch the parade!
Length of session: 6 weeks, every Tuesday, Jan. 12 - Feb. 16.
For children ages 3-6. This stroytime plus program is conducted in English and Mandarin. Children will enjoy 30 minutes of stories, fingerplays, and songs PLUS crafts or other activities.
Registraton is required for this popular storytime. If you prefer register by email, please provide the following information: child's name, age, does s/he speak Mandarin, parent's name and a contact phone number. You'll receive an email confirmation once your child is registered.

This one-on-one reading assistance program is for children in grades 1-6. It is provided by our high quality teen volunteers. Choose one from the six reading periods: 3:15-3:45pm, 4:00-4:30pm, 4:45-5:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Program runs from October through May with some breaks following the calendar of Fremont School District.
Yearly registration is required and starts September 1st, 2009. To register, parents must call or come in person during Centerville Library's open hours: Tue. 1-8pm, Thurs. 11am-6pm. Seats are limited and fill up very quickly so register as early as possible.

After School Homework Help

 Need help with math problems, studying for a spelling test, writing a book report or essay? Homework help is available each aftenoon at the Castro Valley Library where high school student volunteers, working with an adult coordinator, are available for 1 to 1 help. No registration is needed for this free service. Just bring your homework assignments to the Learning Center. After School Homework Help is offered in partnership with the Castro Valley Unified School District and is closed on school holidays.

Dublin Library Homework Help

Students in grades 3 to 8 can drop by and receive help on their after school assignments from teen volunteers. Help is available Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Library.
No signups are required, but each child will be given a permission slip at their first visit, for their parent/guardian to sign and return.
Parents, please note that the Homework Center is not child care and cannot substitute for professional tutoring.

This service offers one-to-one tutoring with live, online Instructors. Tutor and student meet in an online "classroom" and chat. All core subjects are covered for grades 3-12 including math, science, social studies, English/language arts, writing assistance and reading assistance.

Students, grades 1-12, receive assistance with any kind of homework. High school-age volunteers, supervised by an instructor from the SLUSD, work with all ages.
