~~Do you want to “age in place”? Surveys reveal that most Americans want to “age in place,” but what does it mean? And how do we make it happen?
Statistics show that 70% of Americans who reach 65 need long-term care for 3 years (average). What is long-term care? Who pays for long-term care and how much does it cost?
The presentation will discuss long-term care, aging in place as well as health care costs in retirement.

The session is presented by California Health Advocates, an independent 501(c)(3) organization that provides quality Medicare and related healthcare coverage information, education and policy advocacy. California Health Advocates supports the work of service providers, including HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program), the Medicare benefits counseling program.

Dublin Library needs you!  Join us for a conversation about the future of library service here in Dublin. Residents and patrons of the Dublin Library are cordially invited to a community meeting, on Wednesday May 4, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Dublin Library Program Room.

The Dublin Library is currently engaged in a Master Planning process under the guidance of Group 4 Architecture, Research + Planning. After gathering information at the first community meeting on March 14, as well as at the Strategic Visioning Workshop, and along with preliminary results from the surveys, the Architects return to Dublin for a second community meeting to share their findings with you.

Patrons may also stop by the library on May 4 between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30 P.M. to meet the architects personally and provide input into the Master Plan.

Group 4 engages communities in an interactive process to help them define and create vibrant public spaces. The Facilities’ Master Plan will be the collective expression of the values and needs of the community and serve as a guide for the continued growth and expansion of library services to the community of Dublin as well as the broader Alameda County Library service area.

AlligatorZone

AlligatorZone is where kids meet cool startups.  Children and youth, as well as their accompanying families can meet and talk to startup founders in a community gathering that celebrates entrepreneurship.  Guide the entrepreneurs so they can avoid the metaphorical alligators that can hurt their enterprise.  Bring your family along to learn about the local startups' offerings, and share your perspective with the founders in a live interactive exchange.  We encourage grown-ups in the audience to join the kids in asking the entrepreneurs questions and, of course, voicing their opinions and suggestions.

This is a free family event for adults, teens and kids, ages 7 and up.   Seating is limited.  Please register at:   http://AlligatorZone.eventbrite.com.     Learn more at http://AlligatorZone.org

ESTATE AND TRUST PLANNING

Fremont Main Library – Fukaya Meeting Room

Monday, May 9, 2016, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Meet James J. Phillips, Probate and Estate Planning Attorney serving Alameda County, who will speak on estate planning, trusts, probate, and related tax matters. James Phillips is a Certified Specialist in estate planning, probate, and trust law with over 30 years of experience; with a Juris Doctor from Hastings College and a “highest rating (legal ability and ethical standards) of professional excellence” by Martindale-Hubbell. He is included annually in the Northern California Super Lawyers since its inception.

Estate planning is a process! If your estate is small, you may simply focus on who will receive your assets after your death, and who should manage your estate, pay your last debts and handle the distribution of your assets. If your estate is large, there are various ways of preserving your assets for your beneficiaries and reducing or postponing the amount of estate tax. A trust is a legal document which holds your assets for the benefit of those left behind and even for yourself in case of incapacity.

This free seminar is sponsored by the Alameda County Library and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.  No reservations are required.

Contact the Fremont Main Library at  510-745-1444 or 510-745-1440.

If you are moving from employee to entrepreneur or would like to start a business, learn from Alan Olsen, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Managing Partner of leading Bay Area accounting firm, Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Company (GROCO), as he provides guidance on what it takes to become and succeed as an entrepreneur.  Alan and his firm have worked with some of the most influential entrepreneurs in the world, who have helped build successful companies in Silicon Valley.

The presentation will focus on leadership in business and in personal life.  Alan will outline and discuss the five levels of leadership and provide you with a three step process for getting others to help accomplish your vision.
