    This one-on-one reading assistance program is for children in grades 1-6.  It is provided by our high quality teen volunteers. Choose one from the six reading periods: 3:15-3:45pm, 4:00-4:30pm, 4:45-5:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Program runs from October through May with some breaks following the calendar of Fremont School District.

Yearly registration is required and starts September 1st, 2009.

To register, parents must call or come in person during Centerville Library's open hours: Tue. 1-8pm, Thurs. 11am-6pm.
Seats are limited and fill up very quickly so register as early as possible.

    Drop-in story-telling program for children ages 2-6.
Centerville Library's trained teen volunteers read stories to children (and their parents) to discover the fun and love of reading.

This year-round storytime will take place every Thursday between 3:30 and 4:30 PM with a few short breaks.  Children can listen to as many stories as they want.  Parents must stay in the library.

    Did you know that regular exposure to books and reading is one of the best ways to prepare your young child for reading and future success in school? A great way to introduce your 3 - 5 year-old child to the joy of reading is to bring them to Preschool Storytime at the Library!

No registration is required for this ten-week series running January 19 - March 23. The Union City Library Preschool Story Time, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, is a fun introduction to books, fingerplays and stretches for our youngest Library patrons.

    Registration opens Monday, February 1, for a four-week series running February 3 - 24. The Union City Library Baby Time, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., is a fun introduction to books, songs and games for our youngest Library patrons, and an opportunity for the parent to make new friends and socialize.

Space is limited to 20 adult/child pairs, one child from birth - 15 months per adult as each child needs an adult lap to sit on. Attendance at all four meetings is highly recommended.

    This popular English/Mandarin Preschool storytime is coming back to the Union City Library again. It is designed to let the 3 - 5 years old children whose native language is Mandarin but like to get familiar with English, or vice versa.

Stories, fingerplays and some body movements are included in these 30 minutes fun filled sessions runs
from January 6th through February 24th for 8 weeks on every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Union City Library meeting room.

No registration is required. Just drop in to have some fun, and learn some English and Chinese at the same time.

    The Friends are a volunteer community organization, keenly interested in books and libraries. They work to focus public attention on the Dublin Library and to raise funds for the Library. The Friends sponsor two booksales a year, publish a newsletter, sell promotional items, and promote the library during community events such as the Day on the Glen. In addition to their two large book sales each year, they have an ongoing book sale in the lobby of the Library. Rare and collectible books are sold online and offered for silent auction. Funds from booksales support library programming, the adult book discussion groups, Dublin Reads, the Homework Center, and other services and equipment needs of the Library.

The Union City Library Baby Time, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., is a fun introduction to books, songs and games for our youngest Library patrons, and an opportunity for the parent to make new friends and socialize.

Space is limited to 20 adult/child pairs, one child from birth - 15 months per adult as each child needs an adult lap to sit on. Attendance at all four meetings is highly recommended.

Program runs from October through May with some breaks following the calendar of Fremont School District.

Yearly registration is required and starts September 1st, 2009.
To register, parents must call or come in person during Centerville Library's open hours: Tue. 1-8pm, Thurs. 11am-6pm.

    Free Tax Assistance is available at the Dublin Library every Saturday, beginning February 6th and continuing until Saturday, April 10th from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Group Study room. There will be no appointments on Saturday, February 13, 2010 and Saturday, March 13, 2010.

This program is jointly sponsored by the IRS and AARP. Trained volunteers will assist with U.S. Federal and California State income tax and e-filing.

Appointments are available for morning and afternoon sessions. Starting January 14, 2010, call the Dublin Library at 925-803-7275 during normal open hours or sign up at the Reference Desk.     Need help with school assignments? Writing a report? Studying for a test? Our free, drop-in Homework Center is here to help students in grades 2 through 6 with subjects from English to math, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15pm to 5:15pm. Assistance is provided by a tutor and volunteers. No appointment is necessary; just bring your homework to the library.

    This one-on-one reading assistance program is for children in grades 1-6.  It is provided by our high quality teen volunteers. Choose one from the six reading periods: 3:15-3:45pm, 4:00-4:30pm, 4:45-5:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Program runs from October through May with some breaks following the calendar of Fremont School District.

Yearly registration is required and starts September 1st, 2009.
To register, parents must call or come in person during Centerville Library's open hours: Tue. 1-8pm, Thurs. 11am-6pm.
Seats are limited and fill up very quickly so register as early as possible.

Need help with math problems, studying for a spelling test, writing a book report or essay?
Homework help is available each aftenoon at the Castro Valley Library where high school student volunteers, working with an adult coordinator, are available for 1 to 1 help. No registration is needed for this free service. Just bring your homework assignments to the Learning Center. After School Homework Help is offered in partnership with the Castro Valley Unified School District and is closed on school holidays.

    Students in grades 3 to 8 can drop by and receive help on their after school assignments from teen volunteers. Help is available Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Library.

No signups are required, but each child will be given a permission slip at their first visit, for their parent/guardian to sign and return.

Parents, please note that the Homework Center is not child care and cannot substitute for professional tutoring.

This service offers one-to-one tutoring with live, online Instructors. Tutor and student meet in an online "classroom" and chat. All core subjects are covered for grades 3-12 including math, science, social studies, English/language arts, writing assistance and reading assistance.

    Students, grades 1-12, receive assistance with any kind of homework. High school-age volunteers, supervised by an instructor from the SLUSD, work with all ages.
