Open Monday afternoons from 12:30 to 3 pm and Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm, the drop-in Job Lab provides a quiet space for job seekers to use the library's laptops to work on employment-related tasks. During this open lab time, you can use the computers to update or create a resume, search for jobs online, or build new work skills.
Volunteers will be on hand to help with resumes, job searches, online applications and a wide range of other employment related activities. Contact: Castro Valley Library (510) 667-7900

If you need help improving your computer skills or using a new gadget, the Library has an ongoing program for one-on-one help. Help is available for the following topics and more:
♦E-mail ♦Cell phones ♦Microsoft operating systems ♦Backing up and copying files ♦Internet browsing and searching ♦eBooks and eBook readers ♦Digital Cameras and managing digital photographs ♦Applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint ♦Using social media such as Facebook and Twitter ♦MP3 players, iPods, and digital music
Bring your own laptop or use a library laptop equipped with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. Volunteer instructors are available in the Learning Center from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. No registration is necessary.

Paws to Read

Get ready for a howl of a good time as children grades K-6 are invited to our Paws to Read program. Read to a certified pet therapy dog and their owner as Paws to Read programs are designed to help young readers gain self confidence and improve their reading skills.
Registration is required.

Assemblyman Bill Quirk's Community Assistance Program

A representative from Assemblyman Bill Quirk’s office will be available at the Castro Valley Library every first Tuesday of the month from 12 to 2pm to help you resolve California state-related issues. Assemblyman Quirk represents District 20 which includes Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, Fairview, Fremont, Hayward, San Lorenzo, Sunol, and Union City.
The Assemblyman’s representative will work with you to help if you have a problem with a state agency, need legislative information or information about proposed legislation, or just want to express your comments and concerns.
