Are you and adult needing to improve your math skills? Do you want to learn about secrets and short cuts to a better understanding of mathematics?  Then come to this free mathematics class for adults and learn about Coordinate Geometry.  This program will be held in the Dublin Library Program Room.

Instructor Vanessa Mason has taught courses in the areas of mathematics and statistics.  She teaches test preparation courses for educators and nursing students, and is the former Assistant Director for the California High School Exit Exam.  She currently teaches at California State University, East Bay.

A global collaboration providing free and open learning to aspiring students, especially in programming technology.

Programming with Scratch with future plans for Tynker, Python, Web development, Minecraft Mods, Java and more!

  • Events are open to students from 8 - 17 years of age.
  • Students need a laptop with wi-fi (or borrow one)
  • Seating is limited, free tickets are required
  • Parents, CoderDojos form a community that includes YOU. To enroll your child, please complete the survey at http://eepurl.com/EO5sr
  • Once you complete the survey, follow the instructions for signing up for the CoderDojo Google Group. Tickets are only available through the Google Group!
  • Parents, if your child is under the age of 14 you are expected to attend the CoderDojo with your child and stay for the entire session.

The CoderDojo is being co-sponsored by the City of Dublin and the Dublin Library. It will meet on the first Wednesday evening of the month from 7:00 - 8:30 PM, in the Community Room at the Dublin Library. Preparing Taxes

Free Tax Assistance will be available at the Dublin Library every Saturday, beginning February 1, 2014 through April 12, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Group Study Room.

This program is jointly sponsored by the IRS and AARP. Trained volunteers assist with U.S. Federal and California State income tax and e-filing.

Appointments will be available for morning sessions. The Library will begin accepting appointments on January 21, 2014. You may call the Library at 925-803-7275 during normal open hours or sign up in person at the Reference Desk. Drop-ins with no appointment are welcome at any time, from 10:15 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and will be served on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability of volunteer staff.

There will be no Tax Assistance offered on Saturday, March 15, 2014, due to the St. Patrick's Day Festival at Civic Center.

Are you interested in taking better photographs? Come join professional photographer Gerry Mooney for an outdoor photography session at a Dublin area park.

You’ll first meet in Dublin Library Program Room on April 5th at 1:00 PM, where Gerry will go over the goals of the class and then students will assemble for a 2-hour photography session (photographing people, nature, buildings according to your interest) at a location in Dublin.

Following the outdoor photo session, you’ll send Gerry email attachments of your photos for his critique and at a second meeting at Dublin Library Program Room on April 19th from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, where Gerry will go over tips and techniques for better photos, based on all the photos sent to him.

There is a limit of 20 students for this program. Please sign up at Library Information Desk or call (925) 803-7275. For further questions, contact Eugene Marangoni at (925) 803-7286.

Friend Your LibraryThe Dublin Library needs YOU!   The Friends are a volunteer organization of people interested in books and libraries and committed to helping the Dublin Library.  They work to focus public attention on library services and needs and raise funds for the Library. The Friends sponsor two booksales a year, publish a newsletter, sell promotional items, and promote the library during community events. Funds from booksales support summer programs for children, the Homework Center, and many other services and equipment needs of the Library.

The Friends always need additional volunteers to help sort donations and work the booksales.  Newcomers are welcome and receive an orientation from the membership chair. 

The Friends meet on the second Wednesday of the month from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dublin Library. Check out their activities at http://www.dublinfriends.org.

Then join the Children’s Staff on Tuesday May 13 from 6:30 - 7:30 in the Regional Meeting Room at Civic Center for a fun-filled family book party.

 Kaplan and the Dublin Library are offering a series of four classes this winter and spring for high school students. These classes are all free, but do require advance registration. The SAT practice test in particular is limited in the number of participants, so early registration is advised. Please register in person or by phone (at the number listed at the bottom of the screen) to register for any of these programs.

January 7th (6:30-7:30 pm): Getting Into Your First Choice School

February 1st: (10 am - 2:30 pm): Mock SAT test -- please note that this test requires you to be in the Library Program Room promptly at 10 am to start the exam. Class is limited to 25 students. February 10th (6:30-7:30 pm): results for the mock SAT test. You MUST sign up for both the test and the results night in order to receive your results.

March 18th (6-7:30 pm): Mastering the SAT Essay

April 15th (6:30-7:30 pm): Writing Your College Application Essay

Free legal assistance is provided by volunteer lawyers from the Alameda County Bar Association. An attorney will consult to define your problem, advise you of your options, get you started with a solution and make a referral when needed.
