		The New Library is still in need of volunteers for our Homework Express Program, which is an afterschool homework help program in session 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays during the school year, helping students in grades K - 12. Volunteers need only sign up for one day per week, and be on-call for a second day. If you are a responsible high school student with above average grades, consider this opportunity for service to the community. Volunteers are required to attend an orientation meeting before beginning to help students in the program. Applications must be turned in before orientation by February 22nd. The library is closed to the general public on Mondays, but will be open for meeting participants. 		Reading Buddies is a program designed for children in grades 1st-3rd to practice their reading skills by reading to a teen volunteer. Each child may sign up for one 30-minute session per week on Thursday between 3:30-5:30 p.m. from Jan. 24-Mar. 21. Registration is required as space is limited. Registration must be done in person at the Information Desk and begins December 11th.
