    18 months - 35 months oldNewark Library's Toddler Time is a 6-week, repeating, session for 18-35 month old children held on Friday mornings. Each child needs a lap for special one-on-one attention while we read, sing, dance, and learn baby sign language!

We will need participants to come to the Information Desk to get a ticket to enter. If you are late or there are too many people you can get a ticket for the second Toddler Time following this one.Come early to get a good seat.

All children's events, free to you, are funded by the Newark Library League.

    Stitch 'n Inch will continue with Colette Pispisa, our teacher of all things knitted. We, now, have an expert crochet teacher as well. Her name is Betty Joseph. So please come and say hello to these friendly ladies today. Come to learn or just to socialize! And check out their Newark Knitting group page on Ravelry.com!

They will be meeting in our Conference Room, on every other Saturday. You may bring your own needles, or hooks, to learn, or borrow some straight needles that we have. We, also, have extra yarn. Colette is proficient at using double-pointed needles, which we don't have for borrowing. So, if you want to learn how to make neat hats and/or socks, buy yourself a set of these.

Mooney, a professional photographer and retired photography instructor at Ohlone College, critiques photographs of landscapes, seasons, birds, animals, skies, sunsets, and wildflowers.     Reading Buddies is a program designed for children in grades 1st-3rd to practice their reading skills by reading to a teen volunteer. Each child may sign up for one 30-minute session per week on Thursday between 3:30-5:30 p.m. from Jan. 24-Mar. 21.

Registration is required as space is limited. Registration must be done in person at the Information Desk and begins December 11th.

    Sutro's: The Palace at Lands End. A documentary film about San Francisco's privately owned swimming, ice skating and museum complex built in the late 19th century. Journey back in time to revisit Sutro Baths when it was in full operation. See the seven pools, Sutro Railway, Merry Way, Sutro's Cliff House, Ice Skating Rink, Egyptian Mummy Museum, plus many more attractions. A nostalgic trip back in time told by historians and the people who were there.

 

This FREE program is for older adults, their family members and service providers.

    The New Library is still in need of volunteers for our Homework Express Program, which is an afterschool homework help program in session 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays during the school year, helping students in grades K - 12.  Volunteers need only sign up for one day per week, and be on-call for a second day. If you are a responsible high school student with above average grades, consider this opportunity for service to the community.  Volunteers are required to attend an orientation meeting before beginning to help students in the program.  Applications must be turned in before orientation by February 22nd.

The library is closed to the general public on Mondays, but will be open for meeting participants.

    Reading Buddies is a program designed for children in grades 1st-3rd to practice their reading skills by reading to a teen volunteer. Each child may sign up for one 30-minute session per week on Thursday between 3:30-5:30 p.m. from Jan. 24-Mar. 21.

Registration is required as space is limited. Registration must be done in person at the Information Desk and begins December 11th.
