Become an electrical engineer, controlling electrical current and discovering the properties ofconductive materials. Apply your newly found discoveries to build a motorized contraption that can draw, buzz, light up or dance across the table. Note: Participants do not take home their projects.

Custom-make a table-top marble roller coaster! Kids and families will design and test their coasters to keep their marble on track through all their loops, twists and turns. Participants take home their projects.

Attend Stitch 'n Inch to learn or practice knitting with Colette Pispisa or crocheting with Betty Joseph in a fun and friendly atmosphere. You are also welcome just to socialize. Their Newark Knitting group page is on Ravelry.com.

Stitch 'n Inch meets every other Saturday. You may bring your own needles or hooks to learn, or borrow straight knitting needles and yarn. Colette is proficient at using double-pointed needles, but if you want to learn how to make hats, socks or both, you'll need to buy yourself a set.

Learn how to install a zipper and lining by making a zippered pouch. All materials and equipment will be supplied. Prerequisite: You must be able to make a bobbin, thread a sewing machine, and do simple sewing using a sewing machine.

Registration is required and begins on Thursday, June 30 at 10 a.m. Email Barbara at btelford-ishida@aclibrary.org or call (510) 284-0684. The workshop is limited to 8 students using library sewing machines and 4 students bringing their own. 

This class is for adults, age 18 and older. Other interested teens may ask to be placed on the waiting list; if there is space, they will be allowed in. People who have already made a zippered pouch at the library will also be wait-listed.

  • The process of directing and organizing a successful play
  • Games and activities that improve acting ability

Important Dates and Information

  • The camp begins on July 28th
  •  The camp ends on August 15th. There will be a 30 minute performance on this day
  •  Camp days are every Monday and Thursday from 1:30-3:30 pm.
  • Everyone will receive a suitable role
  • There will be a snack break in which students are welcome to eat snacks brought from home
  • The students are advised to wear comfortable clothing in which they act and dance in.
