Reading Buddies is a one-on-one reading program designed for children grades 1 to 6 or new English speakers to improve English skills by reading to a teen volunteer. In a group setting, the enrolled children will meet with their assigned teen volunteer at their scheduled time every week from October 11 2016 through May 24 2017 except during school breaks or holidays.

Registration is required and starts September 1 for everyone. Priorty will be given to students who are reading below grade level. A report card or a "Teacher Recommendation" form must be presented at the time of registration. Recommendation forms are available in the library and must be filled out by the childs teacher.

Superheroes are everywhere! We see them in comic books, movie blockbusters, TV shows, and video games. Come and learn in a 2 hour workshop from artist Brian Kolm of AtomicBearPress on how to draw your own superhero, including their pose, physique, costume and expression.

With a lifelong love of story, literature and the performing arts, Kirk Waller has been immersed in these art forms for over 20 years.  He summons all of his God-given talents and masterfully fuses them together -  spoken word, rhythm, music and movement to create an unforgettable storytelling experience.

He has garnered national recognition for his abilities, including being awarded the J.J. Reneaux Emerging Artist Grant by the National Storytelling Network, receiving a Parent’s Choice Foundation GOLD award for his latest CD, “But Why? Stories, Music and Songs”, First Place in the Phi Rho Pi National Forensics Speech Championship and was also a Marin Arts Council Community Arts Grant recipient for his work with Fair Housing of Marin, Colors of Diversity Storytelling Project.

Kirk has told at festivals, schools, libraries, churches and special events in the San Francisco Bay Area and across our nation, including the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tn

Stitch 'n Inch meets every other Saturday. You may bring your own needles or hooks to learn, or borrow straight knitting needles and yarn. Colette is proficient at using double-pointed needles, but if you want to learn how to make hats, socks or both, you'll need to buy yourself a set.

Bring and fix your broken small electronics, appliances, bikes, and toys (or at least learn more about them) with the help of fixit coaches. A textile/clothing coach will also be available. We provide the workspace, tools, and coaches. This is an all-age do-it-together (D.I.T) repair event.

- Bring your broken item (carry-in only: no oversize items)
- Bring parts and tools that might be helpful (e.g. sewing supplies)
- Come ready to describe what’s wrong and what you’ve tried
- Come ready to learn and to share what you already know with others

WHY: To make friends, learn and teach how to fix things, and have fun!
