Students will weave time and space, creating sculptural interpretations of star formations and exploring outer space phenomena through weaving. We will discuss the physics of space, string theory, wormholes, and travel through the fourth dimension: space time.
 
Students will create their own circular looms using black paper plates and weave in the round using bright, neon, and desaturated color yarns to create deep space through contrast, color interaction, and using colored light to activate their artwork and make them glow!
For ages 11 and up.

Adults and teens 14+ are welcome to attend Stitch 'n Inch to learn or practice knitting with Colette Pispisa or crocheting with Betty Joseph in a fun and friendly atmosphere. You are also welcome just to socialize. Their Newark Knitting group page is on Ravelry.com.

Stitch 'n Inch meets every other Saturday. You may bring your own needles or hooks to learn, or borrow straight knitting needles and yarn. Colette is proficient at using double-pointed needles, but if you want to learn how to make hats, socks or both, you'll need to buy yourself a set.

Community Parent Playgroup is an exciting new opportunity for children and families to come together to socialize, play and get to know others in their area. We welcome all Alameda County families with a child, ages 0-5,  who has a developmental delay, disability, special health care need or social-emotional concern.  Tactile and sensory toys will be provided while children and families socialize and play at the library. Playgroups are organized by a local community parent working with Family Resource Navigators.

Stitch 'n Inch meets every other Saturday. You may bring your own needles or hooks to learn, or borrow straight knitting needles and yarn. Colette is proficient at using double-pointed needles, but if you want to learn how to make hats, socks or both, you'll need to buy yourself a set.
