  • Social Security # and date of birth for all applicants
  • Proof of immigration status (Naturalization certification/Green Card) if applicable

The Newark Library will have free tax help available every Saturday from February 7 to April 11 (Closed March 14) from 10AM-1PM through the VITA program.  This is for qualified individuals and families with household income of $53000 or less annually.  If you qualify, please bring:

  • a photo ID for you and your spouse (if married),
  • original social security/ITIN cards or letters for all persons to be listed on the tax return
  • 2014 tax documents such as W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, etc.
  • Your household’s health coverage info (1095-A if bought through Covered CA)
  • Other 2014 records for charitable contributions; property tax bill; DMV registration bill; childcare provider info and expenses; college expenses; landlord info; business incomes and expenses, etc.
  • Direct Deposit for Faster Refund – bring a voided check or bank routing number and checking and savings account info
  • 2013 tax return

 

VITA will not do married filing separately; self-employment and sole propriety business with expenses over $10,000, depreciation, losses, and office in the home; rental income with rental expenses; and IRA conversions.

Attend Stitch 'n Inch to learn or practice knitting with Colette Pispisa or crocheting with Betty Joseph in a fun and friendly atmosphere. You are also welcome just to socialize. Their Newark Knitting group page is on Ravelry.com.

Stitch 'n Inch meets every other Saturday. You may bring your own needles or hooks to learn, or borrow straight knitting needles and yarn. Colette is proficient at using double-pointed needles, but if you want to learn how to make hats, socks or both, you'll need to buy yourself a set.

In a group setting, the enrolled children will meet with their assigned teen volunteer at their scheduled time every week from October through May except during school breaks or holidays.

Registration starts September 2 and must be done in person.  Each child may sign up for one session only.  Priorities are given to children who are reading below grade level.  The child's last year report card is required for priority registraion.  Seats are limited and fill up very quickly.  The sessions offered currently are as below:

Come and learn how to make a simple motor from everyday materials.  Yes! it really runs!  Learn how a battery, a magnet and some wire work together to generate motion!  Participants may take the material home to continue experimenting. 

For grades 4-6.  Only 15 spaces are available for this workshop.  A ticket is required participate.  Tickets are free and will be handed out on the program day starting at 4:00 PM. Child must be present to receive the ticket.

The Newark Library will have free tax help available every Saturday from February 7 to April 11 (Closed March 14) from 10AM-1PM through the VITA program.  This is for qualified individuals and families with household income of $53000 or less annually.  If you qualify, please bring:

  • a photo ID for you and your spouse (if married),
  • original social security/ITIN cards or letters for all persons to be listed on the tax return
  • 2014 tax documents such as W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, etc.
  • Your household’s health coverage info (1095-A if bought through Covered CA)
  • Other 2014 records for charitable contributions; property tax bill; DMV registration bill; childcare provider info and expenses; college expenses; landlord info; business incomes and expenses, etc.
  • Direct Deposit for Faster Refund – bring a voided check or bank routing number and checking and savings account info
  • 2013 tax return

 

VITA will not do married filing separately; self-employment and sole propriety business with expenses over $10,000, depreciation, losses, and office in the home; rental income with rental expenses; and IRA conversions.

Stitch 'n Inch meets every other Saturday. You may bring your own needles or hooks to learn, or borrow straight knitting needles and yarn. Colette is proficient at using double-pointed needles, but if you want to learn how to make hats, socks or both, you'll need to buy yourself a set.

Reading Buddies is a one-on-one reading program designed for children grades 1 to 6 to improve English skills by reading to a teen volunteer. In a group setting, the enrolled children will meet with their assigned teen volunteer at their scheduled time every week from October through May except during school breaks or holidays.

Registration starts September 2 and must be done in person.  Each child may sign up for one session only.  Priorities are given to children who are reading below grade level.  The child's last year report card is required for priority registraion.  Seats are limited and fill up very quickly.  The sessions offered currently are as below:

Reading Buddies is a one-on-one reading program designed for children grades 1 to 6 to improve English skills by reading to a teen volunteer. In a group setting, the enrolled children will meet with their assigned teen volunteer at their scheduled time every week from October through May except during school breaks or holidays.

Registration starts September 2 and must be done in person.  Each child may sign up for one session only.  Priorities are given to children who are reading below grade level.  The child's last year report card is required for priority registraion.  Seats are limited and fill up very quickly.  The sessions offered currently are as below:
