misc_none 10:30 AM  -  12:00 PM Fitness at Fremont Main -- Shaolin Kung Fu Chan, a Unique Workout for Body and Mind Remind Me about this Event Download Event Info Tell a Friend

Come to experience the world-renowned Shaolin Kung Fu Chan at Fukaya Room,  on Saturday, May 16, 10:30 a.m.

There is a saying that all kung fu  (martial arts) under the sun originates from Shaolin Temple of China.  Shaolin Temple of China was established in AD 495, so has been around for over 1500 years.  Kung fu meets Chan (or Zen, the Japanese term) at Shaolin Temple of China as it is also the birthplace of Chan/Zen.  With Shaolin Kung Fu Chan/Zen, people get to experience the unique workout for body and mind.  They exercise their bodies with kung fu and their minds with Chan or Zen.

Fortunately, this ages-old Shaolin Temple discipline has a local presence.  Shaolin Temple USA, its North American branch, was established in Fremont in 2007.  Over the Thanksgiving weekend of 2007, they gave two exciting kung fu demonstrations at the Fremont Main Library, which resulted in a standing room only crowd.

This fitness session will begin with a live demonstration of kung fu prowess by Shaolin Temple USA’s masters and students, followed by a full-on body and mind workout, including self-defense techniques, and a Chan/Zen session.
