Faiths in our Community Series:  Who are the Unitarian Universalists

Come learn about Unitarian Universalism's origins, beliefs, values, and practices from members of Hayward's Starr King Unitarian Universalist Church.  Unitarian Universalism is a progressive faith focused on social justice and grounded in our Seven Principles.

Please join us for this segment of the Eden Area Interfaith Council presentation series describing the beliefs and practices of the people who live in our Eden Area community.  It is increasingly important in these times of religious intolerance, for us to come together and learn from each other.  By learning about each others faith traditions, we replace divisive speculations, fears, and stereotypes with powerful firsthand knowledge that transforms "scary unknown others" into friends and partners with common experience, values, and interests.

Sponsored by the Eden Area Interfaith Council & the Castro Valley Library.  No reservations are required for this FREE event.  For more information, contact Castro Valley Library (510) 667-7900.

Join us for another great Sunday Concert at the San Lorenzo Library. This time we're featuring Horns a Plenty!

From their website:

"Horns a Plenty is a 6 piece brass ensemble that is re-defining what it is to be a brass quintet. We're all organic. Nothing electric. Who could ask for anything more?!

We play ballroom dance music, swing, jazz, rhumba, cha-cha, Dixieland, classical music, fanfares, 19th century Americana, wedding favorites, love songs and ballads. We have one foot in JS Bach and the other in Duke Ellington, with plenty of brass in between. We want to squeeze as much music as we can out of each and every note.

We play our music for the love of it and invite you, the audience, to join us in this journey of musical discovery."

Check out Horns a Plenty at their website http://hornsaplenty.org/

misc_none 2:00 PM  -  3:00 PM Sitar Soundscapes Remind Me about this Event Download Event Info Tell a Friend

Our Sunday Concerts at San Lorenzo Library continue with Sitar Soundscapes featuring Haji Basim.

Haji Basim, an award-winning, passionate and charismatic artist, announces his brand of music that expresses a unique approach and blend of Folk, Devotional, and World music. Basim is an accomplished internationally touring multi-Instrumentalist, who has mastered Guitar, Banjo, Ukulele, Sitar, etc. He is also a singer-songwriter, who has created a new diverse and spiritually upbeat genre called Urban Folk. His refreshing and innovative blend of folk falls somewhere in between the intimacy of artists such as Trevor Hall or Josè Gonzales and the sensuality and spiritual groove of performers such as Xavier Rudd or Nahko & Medicine For The People, just to mention a few.

For more information about Haji, visit his website at http://www.hajibasim.com/
