Contact: Ames Free Library   508-238-2000   info@amesfreelibrary.org

Ever dreamed of playing the fiddle? Here's your chance!

Your instructor, Anna Magee, played classical violin as a school girl, but then discovered the rapturous fun of FIDDLING! Now, she fiddles at contra dances, folk festivals, farmers' markets, pub sessions and even the occasional contest.

What’s the difference between a violin and a fiddle? — it’s the kind of music you play and how you play it.  We’re not talking Mozart here, but folk music with great old tunes still being passed from generation to generation. If you would like to learn about the home-spun art of fiddling, or always thought you might like to try your hand at it yourself, come and check it out at Fiddle Time. If you have a fiddle, you are welcome to bring it along.

Contact: Ames Free Library   508-238-2000   info@amesfreelibrary.org

The Ames Free Library Author Talk Series is proud to present Ken Liu, author of The Grace of Kings.

Two men rebel together against tyranny—and then become rivals—in this first sweeping book of an epic fantasy series from Ken Liu, recipient of Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy awards.

Polar opposites, bandit Kuni Garu, and son of a deposed duke Mata Zyndu, become best friends after a series of adventures fighting against vast conscripted armies, silk-draped airships, and shapeshifting gods. Once the emperor has been overthrown, however, they each find themselves the leader of separate factions—two sides with very different ideas about how the world should be run and the meaning of justice.

Fans of intrigue, intimate plots, and action will find a new series to embrace in the Dandelion Dynasty.

Free and open to all!

Ken Liu’s fiction has appeared in Asimov’s, Analog, Strange Horizons, Lightspeed, and Clarkesworld, among others. He has won a Nebula, two Hugos, a World Fantasy Award, a Science Fiction & Fantasy Translation Award, and been nominated for the Sturgeon and the Locus Awards. His wife, Lisa Tang Liu, is an artist. He lives in Stoughton with his family.
