THE BUDDHA IN THE ATTIC by Julie Otsuka

fpo

Do you like to talk about the books you enjoy reading with others?  Then join us the second Monday of each month at 2pm for reader-to-reader book discussions, informal fun, and sharing with fellow fiction lovers.

This month's selection tells a story of a group of young women brought from Japan to San Francisco as “picture brides” nearly a century ago. In eight unforgettable sections, The Buddha in the Attic traces the extraordinary lives of these women, from their arduous journeys by boat, to their arrival in San Francisco and their tremulous first nights as new wives; from their experiences raising children who would later reject their culture and language, to the deracinating arrival of war.

No sign-up required.  Refreshments will be served.  Come meet with other adults who like to read and discuss lighter fiction.
