Yin Yoga is a slow paced style of yoga with poses or asanas that are held for longer periods of time. Calm the mind and stretch the body. Participants should bring a yoga mat, large beach towel, pillow and two yoga blocks. Instructor is Jill Ackiron-Moses. Fee: $20.00 for the 6-part series. Waiver required.

    Provided by a Grant from ALA and Disney

Ages 9 & 10

The Baldwin Public Library has received a grant from the American Library Association and Disney! The money received from this grant has been used to create TEAM, an art and poetry workshop which will be facilitated by a local artist at the Library.

The program will consist of: A series of six Monday afternoon sessions plus a reception for the tweens and their parents, a printed and bound book that will be created for each participating tween, a display of the tweens’ artwork for the community to enjoy, an eBook version of the work, and a short film documenting the project.


Mondays, April 4, 11, 18 and May 2, 9, 16 @ 4:00 – 5:00 PM

Reception to be held for parents and children- Monday, May 23 @ 7:00 PM

    This workshop is open to the entire community and will be a learning experience for everyone.

This interactive workshop addresses stereotypes, sexual orientation, homophobia, the inappropriate use of the word ‘gay’, and anti-LGBT bullying.

We will also investigate the “T” in LGBT and how gender identity differs from sexual orientation. Myths and stereotypes about transgender people, the negative effects of transphobia and bullying, and ways to create safer spaces for transgender people will be discussed.

Issues facing LGBT people, risk factors, supportive factors, and best practices will also be discussed.
