    Join The South Shore Reads for a special evening that brings together people from 11 communities – Baldwin, East Rockaway, Freeport, Hewlett-Woodmere, Island Park, Long Beach, Lynbrook, Oceanside, Peninsula, Rockville Centre, and Valley Stream – in celebration of this year’s Long Island Reads selection, The Museum of Extraordinary Things.

Author and Long Island native Alice Hoffman will discuss her book and answer questions. Raffles will be sold; books will be available for sale and signing.

Light refreshments will be offered. Registration is not required, but seating is limited!

Free parking available at the Lynbrook Library and the adjacent municipal lot. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

    It’s your last chance to visit the popular Long Island friary. The Franciscan community of friars on the north shore who bake bread are closing their doors! We’ll have a brief tour, walk the labyrinth and take home a loaf of delicious freshly baked bread.

Lunch is at a Riverhead restaurant. Select from a wonderful menu that includes buffalo burgers since our next stop is Long Island’s very own buffalo farm! We’ll meet the breeder and get up close and personal for a picture.

Additional stops at the Long Island Goat Farm and/or Briermere Farms (famous pies) as time allows. Shared trip with West Hempstead Library.

Fee: $69.00

No refunds unless trip is cancelled.
