This therapeutic style of yoga utilizes props such as blocks, straps, and bolsters to encourage the body to release into the poses for deeper relaxation. Participants should bring a large beach towel, yoga mat and sweatshirt.

    Begin at the beautiful Bartow-Pell Mansion, celebrating its centennial. With its splendid Greek revival interiors, it is the only grand country house still in existence on Pelham Bay.

Our guided tour will highlight the impressive collection of mid-19th century furnishings and fine and decorative arts and include the Carriage House as well as the Grand Dames Exhibit.

Enjoy a lovely Victorian Tea and pastries in the Orangerie with some time to stroll around the grounds with their formal terraced garden and Pell family burial plot.

Then it’s on to Edgar Allan Poe’s restored cottage where Poe spent the last years of his life. It was in this bucolic setting where the great writer penned many of his most enduring poetical works including “Annabel Lee.”

The trip concludes with a late lunch at the Lobster House on City Island.

Return to the library around 6:00 PM.

The fee for this trip is $80.00 and is a shared trip with West Hempstead Public Library.

    This program, sponsored by Nassau BOCES, helps students whose native language is not English improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Classes are for adults over 21 who DO NOT have a high school diploma from any of the following: U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam or the Philippines.

In person registration is on Monday, September 22 OR Wednesday, September 24, 5:30-7:30PM. Bring one form of photo ID: Driver’s License, Passport, etc. At registration, an application and writing sample will be completed, as well as a placement test. Please allow up to 1½ hours to complete the registration process. A money order of $55, payable to Nassau BOCES, is due at first class.

Classes are for adults over 21 who DO NOT have a high school diploma from any of the following: U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam or the Philippines. In person registration is on Monday, September 22 OR Wednesday, September 24, 5:30-7:30PM. Bring one form of photo ID: Driver’s License, Passport, etc. At registration, an application and writing sample will be completed, as well as a placement test. Please allow up to 1 and 1/2 hours to complete the registration process. A money order in the amount of $55, payable to Nassau BOCES, is due at first class.
