This is a great way to help develop language abilities in your young child. This program is suitable for children from birth to kindergarten. It is a drop in class which runs for 6 weeks.

Join us on the first Wednesday of the month for book sharing and brownies.  Bring a book that you checked out from the library and share the story (but NOT the ending) with other kids.  It is a great way to find a new author, start a new series and just have fun talking about great books.  Open to all readers and we will break into groups based on reading level.

While your children are being supervised by a trained sitter, you will be on the other side of the same floor enjoying a cup of coffee/tea and conversation around child-rearing issues.  It is a wonderful way to meet new people and discuss issues together.

Catch the beat as Mike Rinker teaches African drumming for all abilities from beginner to advanced.  Mike works with all drummers to lead in traditional West African rhythms on the djembe drums.  Mike Rinker is a graduate of Berklee School of Music and the University of Texas at Austin; he has traveled to Ghana and Guinea extensively to study and play African music.  Drums are provided and cost is $15 with a portion donated to the West Boylston Arts Foundation to support school arts and music.   Pre-registration is required; email Michael Rinker at michael12358@yahoo.com to register.

“The Mad March - Jean Henri Fabre and his Caterpillar Tricks” -  A Story Time event with author, Loree Griffin Burns.  Students in grades 3-6 are invited to “meet” Jean Henri Fabre, a Frenchmen who wanted to learn every single thing he could about insects, especially the odd marching caterpillars that nested in his backyard pine trees. What he learned about them and how he learned it is an incredible story of science!

Come to the Beaman Mansion dressed as a character of your choice or choose a “disguise” using one of our paper props. Then prepare to use your stealth and sleuthing abilities to determine who the murderer is.  Be on alert or you may become the next victim!  Please register and give the library your character’s name before February 24 so we can add  so we can add ase register and you to the character list!  This program is limited to 20 sleuths! Snacks will be served between murders.
