Dig Into Reading Summer Reading Club
|
|
| |
|
2013 Summer Reading Club: Dig Into Reading for kids ages 0 through High School. What is the summer Reading Club? In addition to our many programs (see this event calendar for specific dates, times and descriptions), on Monday June 10th, you may begin earning prizes by reading or listening to books, comic books, magazines, eBooks, newspapers, audiobooks, or Dial-a-stories. You may register anytime during the summer. There's no cost to register. Just come in when you are ready to report on your first book(s) read. You may use traditional paper tickets to keep track of all of your reading or you may track your reading online. The weblink for online tracking can be found on our main webpage.
Who may participate? Kids of any age, babies through high school may have books read to them or may read their own books. Children who read to other children may count those books for themselves too.
How can I earn prizes? For every five books read or listened to turn in a completed reading ticket.
How do I complete my ticket? Carefully fill in your name and contact information (If you are a backpack winner or Grand Prize winner, we will need to contact you!) Every 50 pages counts as one book. If a book is less than 50 pages, count that as one book. If you don't know how many pages a book is, we can help you figure that out, or you can go to the library catalog to see how many pages it is (audio and eBooks count as the number of pages of the print book).
How do I win a back pack? Every week, Brandywine Community Library will raffle off a backpack from the tickets turned in over the past week.
What should I read? The choice is all yours. You may read books from this library or from another library. You may borrow a book from a friend or read a book that you have at home. You may read books by any author or about any subject that interests you. Just think about all the fun you'll have reading!
How do I "buy" prizes? For every completed reading ticket you will receive one "cave cash". Save your cave cash to spend in our "Summer Reading Store". There are toys, puzzles, games, books, summer reading t-shirts and special raffles to participate in. Cave cash can only be spent at Brandywine Community Library.
THE GRAND PRIZE - One lucky boy or girl will win a Kindle Fire(7",wi-fi, 8GB). The winner will be drawn at random during our Grand Prize Drawing Event August 21st, from all of the properly completed reading tickets submitted during summer reading. Be sure to fill out all of your information carefully, if you are the lucky winner we will need to be able to read your name and contact you!! The drawing is for Brandywine Community Library Summer Reading participants only. There will only be one winner. Remember the more books you read, the better your chances are of winning!!
King and Queen of Summer Reading. The top male and female readers of the summer will be invited to ride in the Brandywine Community Library Topton Halloween Parade float!!!!! Your parent must accompany you. The King and Queen will be chosen from the two children who have read the most number of books during summer reading!! Keep reading so you can ride in the float with us!!! * In the case of a tie, the King or Queen will be drawn at random.
