For infants 10-24 months old. This class includes rhymes, stories, and music-and-movement activities. Only infants of this age and a parent/caregiver can participate. Older siblings are not eligible to attend.

Coloring for adults has become the latest trend.  It reduces stress and anxiety, trains your brain to focus, helps with fine motor skills, and gives you a chance to be social.  But most importantly, it is good for you because it's fun!  Now the Library offers coloring sessions for adults age 18 years and up.  We will provide a variety of coloring pages, including color-by-number pages, and colored pencils.

Registration required. Walk-ins will be welcome if there is room.

Valentine's Day Earring Workshop: make 4 pairs of earrings of your own design.  Instructor Diane Kopta will show you how to use tools for making two types of earrings, 2 with charms of love, hearts or chocolate, and two with beads of crystal, cultured pearls and stones.  You will take your creation home in an organza bag with earring savers so you don't lose your precious creations.

March is National Craft Month, and the Library is celebrating with an all-new addition to our Adult Creative Corner! We have knowledgeable instructors who look forward to showing beginners how to make a hat on a round loom. And to "top it off," the hats will be donated to a local charity! 

If you are an experienced loom-knitter, we invite you to join us and help the others work on their projects. All materials will be provided by the Library.

March's Topic is:  Photos and Camera

Based on participants' interest and feedback, we will cover one or two of a variety of special topics or projects during each class.  Each month's topic will be announced at least one month in advance. Special topics or projects may include: iCloud, Photos, Camera, Mail, Messaging, Contacts, Facetime, Safari, Maps, News, Downloadable Digital Media, and more.

We strongly encourage participants to bring your own iPad to class, as we will emphasize a hands-on approach.  iPhone users are also invited to participate, as there are many similarities between iPad and iPhone.  The class will focus on iOS version 9, but other versions are welcome.

Please be sure to bring your device, fully charged, with your Apple ID and password for your own use.  

Prerequisite: Participants should have a basic understanding and some practice in using iPad.  This may be fulfilled by taking the Library's iPad Basics class.

The iPad Basics class will repeat on the first Monday of January, May, and September.  iPad Special Topics will be offered throughout the year on the first Monday of all other months.

Join us for a movie to accompany our Quarterly Classic Book Discussion of Moby Dick.  This DVD is an adaptation of Nathaniel Philbrick's historical novel about the harrowing high-seas encounter that inspired Herman Melville's novel Moby Dick.  In the winter of 1820, the crew of the New England whaling ship The Essex struggle to survive after an attack by a rogue sperm whale leaves them stranded at sea for 90 days. This film is rated PG-13.

The 2017 Annual Gardening Series Continues!

Join us and you'll learn fascinating facts about these flying gems of the garden! Our presenter is John Root, naturalist and educator. Mr. Root will show his beautiful images of butterflies from around the world, and tell us how we can attract and nurture native butterflies in our own backyard gardens. There will be an opportunity for Q&A. 

A selection of butterfly-friendly plants will be available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Bethel Public Library.

Registrants will be eligible to win coupons for the Bethel Garden Club's May 20, 2017 Plant Sale.

The Sensory-Friendly Music and Movement Show.

Local author James Smith will present his memoir A Boy's Life in the Baby Boom, True Tales From Small Town America.  He grew up in Pittsford, New York, where his great aunt Una Hutchinson founded the Pittsford Community Library.  Mr. Smith is a former managing editor of the News Times, now retired.  This is his fourth book.  He is the winner of The Distinguished Writing Award from the American Society of Newspaper Editors.  Mr. Smith will discuss his memoir and read excerpts from it, as well as sign copies.  Books will be available for purchase.

iPad Basics: Topics covered during class will include basics to get you started in using your iPad, such as the following: iPad layout, Homescreen layout, Standard and Built-In Apps, Using Touch and Gestures to Navigate, Settings, Notifications and Alerts, Keyboard and Typing, Copying and Pasting Selections, and Cleaning and Charging.  

We strongly encourage participants to bring your own iPad to class, as we will emphasize a hands-on approach.  iPhone users are also invited to participate, as there are many similarities between iPad and iPhone.  The class will focus on iOS version 9, but other versions are welcome.

Please be sure to bring your device, fully charged, with your Apple ID and password for your own use.

The iPad Basics class will repeat on the first Monday of January, May, and September.  iPad Special Topics will be offered throughout the year on the first Monday of all other months.

Instructor Sharyn Farrell takes a stress-free approach, so you will really enjoy learning the choreographed steps. After this 1-hour class, you will have the confidence to take to the dance floor!

It's time to create your own work of art! On four Thursday evenings in May, you will be guided by professional artist and instructor Adele Moros in a friendly, relaxed environment perfect for all skill levels! You may choose acrylic, watercolor, pastel, or ink, and indicate your choice on the registration form. Adele will then provide a list of materials needed depending on your medium so you can purchase them before the first class. You are encouraged to register early enough to allow yourself time to get supplies!

This series of four evening classes is for adults and young adults; no children, please. No experience is necessary.

Along with help from Puppeteer Robert Rogers, kids and teens will learn the art of puppetry and create their own puppets to present a puppet performance on May 5 at the library. Sessions will also be held on April 20, 27 and May 5. Kids and Teens who register must attend all three sessions.

Celebrate Mother's Day by making a beautiful keepsake!

Please join us as we welcome back the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project for another fascinating program!  Two films will be shown:  a film on the meaning of the lotus flower, and a short documentary film on Korean artistic tradition.  Then, the members of the Project will be on hand to help you make a lovely lotus flower lantern using colorful paper and wire frames. You will be able to choose the color of your lantern.  Lastly, Korean traditonal refreshments will be served!

Korean Spirit & Culture Promotion Project (KSCPP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to raising awareness of Korean history and culture. Since 2008, KSCPP has presented various programs on Korean history and culture in the U.S.
