misc_none 2:00 PM  -  3:00 PM Stephanie Foster - Farms of Cape Cod Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

Many people don’t realize the diversity of the farms on Cape Cod from produce and livestock to local vineyards, cranberry bogs, oyster flats, as well as  lavender, holly and horse. The interest in farming has grown over the years that she has been selling flowers at the various farmers markets on the Cape. She met the farmers through the markets and her work as a journalist. The end result is a  book  that goes beyond the farm markets and explores the green lifestyle in full color with 266 images that document what real farming is all about.
At the talk you will learn about the farmers and  why they chose their lifestyle. It's a chance to connect with our disappearing cultural heritage and the farmlands of our grandparents. For most of us, living a sustainable lifestyle, means patronizing local farmers who grow organically instead of buying food that travels 1,500 miles before reaching the supermarket. This book is a travel guide to the farms of Cape Cod that many people don’t even know exist.
