Dr. Graham Boettcher, the William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art, will discuss the Library's exhibition, "Alabama Illustrated: Engravings from 19th Century Newspapers." He will explain how illustrated newspapers portrayed Alabama and the South and how this portrayal - accurate or not - formed readers' opinions about the people, events, and industry in Alabama in the 19th century.
