misc_none Star Wars Promotional Video Raffle Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact: Mr. Steve   508-966-1660   sfowler@cwmars.org

Families with Star Wars fans: Don't miss out on this out-of-this-world opportunity! On Sunday, September 28, the Star Wars 501st Legion (an organization who uses their love for Star Wars to raise money for charities) is using our library as a place to shoot a promotional video and they need help from a handful of kids. Since we have way more than a handful of kids who would love to participate, we are having a raffle to determine who the lucky kids will be! The lucky winners will be filmed greeting the Star Wars characters as they enter the room. At the conclusion of the filming, the winning kids and families will be able to meet the characters and get pictures taken with them.

By entering your family in this raffle, you are giving your consent for your child(ren) to appear in this promotional video. Each family may be entered only one time. Raffle entries will be accepted from September 2-September 19. Winners will be selected randomly and announced on Saturday, September 20. The filming schedule is not set in stone and participants must have a flexible mid-day schedule on Sunday, September 28 in order to be ready at any time for the video shoot.

        There are many spaces available.

    Contact: Bernadette Rivard   508-966-1660   brivard@bellinghamma.org

Tuesdays from 8:30 to 10 am.
Class instructor:  Patricia Spencer, Bellingham resident, teaching at Time for You Yoga, Cumberland, RI.

Pat is a fully insured Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Basics Teacher with more than 400 hours of training, and is a RYT at the 200 hour level.  She is also a Certified Embodyment® Yoga Therapist. Svaroopa® Yoga is a unique and transformational style of Hatha yoga which specializes in alleviating pain (especially back pain) and cultivating a quiet mind and peaceful spirit.  Each 90 minute class begins and ends with deep relaxation and body awareness.  Each pose is carefully aligned and supported with props – blankets, blocks, chairs – and can be modified to address each individual student’s needs.   Class size is small (no more than eight) so each student receives individual attention and is monitored in every pose.  By transforming your body, Svaroopa® yoga changes the quality of your mind and emotions.

You must be 18 or older and in generally good health to attend this beginning class.  Please wear loose comfortable fitting clothing and you do not need to bring a yoga mat.  Attendees will be required to sign a liability release form prior to the class.   Please register the name of each person who will be attending.

Pat has requested that attendees be encouraged to make a donation to the Friends of the Bellingham Library.  There will be a donation jar in the back of the room at this class for those who wish to do so.

Join us for our first monthly installment of our "For Grownups" series.  We do lots of stuff for kids, now we want you to take time for yourself and do things that are fun, educational and a chance to be with grownups!

Kathy Wotton of Artworks Studio MA in Hopedale will lead us in a canvas paint session. The subject of the painting is a chickadee in a winter scene.  You will enjoy spending time with friends, follow step by step painting instructions to make your masterpiece.   This is the perfect class for someone who has NEVER painted and maybe even be a bit fearful to paint.

Cost for materials and a small donation to the Friends of the Library is $10 per painter.  To register for this class you will need to stop by the library with payment, either cash or check made payable to "The Friends of the Bellingham Library."

This "For Grownups" series has been coordinated by Marjorie Turner Hollman, Personal Historian; Sheila Ronkin, Outreach Coordination Bellingham Senior Center; and Bernadette Rivard, Library Director.

The Bellingham/Mendon Veteran’s oral history project has been underway for one year now, and we’d like to celebrate, thank the veterans who have been able to share their stories, and offer a chance for those veterans to share what it has meant to be involved in the project. This will be an opportunity to meet the veteran storytellers, say “Thank you” for their willingness to serve, and learn a little more about what you can do to help document and preserve veteran’s stories. We also expect to have some additional special guests who will share what they are doing in their own communities.

We are still working to collect more veteran’s stories so all interested veterans (and their families)are urged to attend, to learn more about the project. Light refreshments will be served.  So we can plan refreshments, registration suggested but not required.
