Dr. Joseph Schwieterman, of DePaul University, will offer a fast-paced look at how our travel landscape is changing, starting with a look at the rise and fall of railroad service in communities across the United States and continuing with the great icons of modern-day Chicago transportation, including Union Station and Midway and O'Hare Airports. He'll also take us on a short journey along the great trains that once ran through the Bloomingdale vicinity and give us a peek ahead at what we might expect when traveling by air or rail in the future.

Professor Schwieterman is the director of the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development at DePaul University. Schwieterman has spent more than three decades studying Chicago's every changing transportation system. His commentary can be regularly heard on WBBM News Radio 780 and WBEZ Chicago Public Radio. The professor's exhibit on the great air, bus and train terminals of Chicago is currently on display at Chicago Union Station.
