    By 1945 nearly one out of every four married women worked outside the home. Stephanie Seawell, Executive Director of the Illinois Labor History Society, will present film clips and discuss the role of women in the workforce during World War II after President Franklin Roosevelt asked all citizens to join the war effort to build ships and airplanes that would out produce and overwhelm the enemy.

Use of the genealogy collection in the Local History Department and individual help and instruction is also available.
