SUMMER READING KICK-OFF EVENT WITH TOE JAM PUPPET BAND!  

 Toe Jam's interactive variety show is an exciting, entertaining concert with stories, songs & puppets that will celebrate the joys & benefits of reading.

 Featured as the kickoff event for the Boxborough Library's 2016 Summer Reading Program, the fast paced musical show guarantees an exciting start to our summer!

 Tom & Vinny, an inspirational duo with years of entertainment experience, will delight the audience with original songs & antics that include zany puppets, silly stories, a barn dance, and a flying laundry song!

 This program is funded, in part, by a grant from the Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency,

and by the Friends of the Sargent Memorial Library.

Emergency Vehicle Day:  Children and their families will have a chance to get a closer look at emergency vehicles during Boxborough Library's annual Emergency Vehicle Day on Tuesday July 12 th.
Representatives from the Department of Public Works, the Boxborough Police Force, the Boxborough Fire Department, and Littleton Electric will bring their terrific trucks to the library parking lot!
Children of all ages are invited to climb up on a fire truck, go inside an ambulance, sit in a police car, and climb aboard several utility trucks!
Afterward, we will go into the Library for a special story time with a Fireman from the Boxborough Fire Department! Make sure you bring your camera!

Tae Kwon Do – Club -- This Club Meets once a month. It is free of charge and open to the public.
National Competitor and State-wide Champion, Yufei Tian, will offer Tae Kwon Do Lessons at the Boxborough Library.

Yufei will teach the basic techniques of Tae Kwon Do - including basic punches, kicks, stances, and self-defense, and forms.

With a focus on self-discipline and respect the classes will be fun and informal.

The 45 minute sessions are open to girls and boys ages 5-10.

Coloring has been shown to reduce stress and increase calmness. This workshop is back by popular demand!  Have you ever seen lovely oriental flowers or birds painted on a rock and wondered how to paint like that? Award-winning artist & designer, Hongbing Tang, will guide students through the process of preparation & ornamentation of a specially chosen stone. Students will transform a rock into a work of art using techniques handed down by the masters. This program is designed for students ages 9-18 with an interest in developing their artistic ability. The audience will be intrigued by the variety of animals that share our planet.  A Creature Teacher's educator will make this STEAM event fun & exciting -- and the interesting variety of animals will appeal to everyone! Pumpernickel Puppets Presents:  Three Billy Goat's Gruff & The Lion & The Mouse -- with originally designed puppets ranging in size from small hand puppets to larger than life-size figures!

Pumpernickel Puppet shows include a cast of colorful puppet characters, live voices, sound effects, and fast-paced scripts that will not only entertain, but stimulate children's imagination and creativity.
