Join Kathleen for a morning of wonderful stories, songs,and fingerplays that promote literacy skills.

Children are also invited to participate in a creative craft. This storytime is suitable for children ages 3 to 7. 

Siblings are welcome!  Craft supplies and musical insturments are provided by the Friends of the Boxborough Library!

Jasmine, a certified therapy dog will be visiting the Children's Room two Mondays per month at 4:00 pm!

Children need to sign-up in advance to read to Jasmine.

Each "reading visit" lasts approximately 25 minutes, allowing enough time for Jasmine to enjoy a short story or a chapter of a book.

Children will increase their self-confindence and become excited about reading -- just by reading to Jasmine! Jasmine is a lovable, hypo-allergenic Labradoodle!

Jasmine and her owner/trainer Ruth Lull, are certified by Therapy Dogs International (TDI), a non-profit organization committed to

helping people through pet assisted therapy. Celebrate Family Literacy Month at the Boxborough Library!

misc_none Frank Sibley Photo Exhibit Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
   

The photographs of Boxborough resident and Council on Aging member Frank Sibley will be on display at the Sargent Memorial Library from Dec. 3, 2014 through Jan. 6, 2015.  Frank has been photographing the people and places of Boxborough as a hobby since 2001, the year he retired.  He has accumulated a vast collection of digital photographs on his computers which he will share with visitors to the Sargent Memorial Library.  The photographs are of local people, celebrations, events and infrastructure.

In addition, a series of permanent loose-leaf photo albums will be added to the collection at a reception on Dec. 16, at 1:00 PM, and remain on display at the library until the close of the exhibit. The photos and albums will be permanently archived in the Local History Room of the library where they may be used for reference purposes by library patrons in coming years.  Each photo in the albums will be imprinted with a date and serial number, and that information may be used to obtain free digital copies from the photographer.  Printed instructions will be available to users on how that can be done.

This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Boxborough parents, caregivers and children ages 12 months to 2 1/2 years (older siblings are welcome, too)
are invited to this special story & play time. In keeping with early literacy practices,
children will enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, and musical instruments in a nurturing setting.
This Story Time meets twice a month. This program is supported by the Friends of the Library!

Children ages 5 & up are invited to build a special LEGO structure!
Bring a friend and share your building ideas!  We supply the LEGO's -- you supply the creativity!
Once finished, children will be able to display their masterpieces in the Children's Department for all patrons to enjoy! 
Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver -- so please join the fun!
