Do you want less stress and more joy in your life? If so, join us for this incredibly fun low-impact exercise class. You'll learn Laughter Yoga exercises that have recommended by Dr. Andrew Weil, Oprah, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta.  No special flexibility or yoga mats needed.  People of all ages and physical abilities are welcome.  Certified Laughter Yoga instructor, Laura Le has been exploring different relaxation techniques since her days as a stressed out Yale student. Laughter Yoga was one of the most powerful stress management tools she discovered, and it definitely was the most fun! Laura has been interviewed by the Hartford Courant and has been a guest on radio and public TV shows. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  Contact the library to reserve a seat.

With 10,000 Baby Boomers daily turning 65 over the next 20 years, the already great demand for Long-Term Care (LTC) services will grow exponentially.   The need for LTC may stem from a major illness, cognitive disorder, or just the frailty of aging.  Financial Service Speakers Michael Alimo and David Weyner will address the importance of planning for LTC before you need it, the variety of LTC settings and range of their costs, potential impact of LTC costs on individual life savings, retirement accounts, family resources; along with financing strategies for funding LTC. The Berlin Visiting Nurse Association Flu Clinic. The clinic is open for Berlin residents over the age of 18.  No appointments are needed. *Arrangements can be made for any residents who are homebound and unable to attend.  If you have any questions, please call the Berlin VNA at 828-7030 between  8:00 and 4:00 Monday to Friday.  Traditional Medicare, Aetna, Connecticare, Cigna and Blue Cross will be accepted.  If no insurance, there will be a $25 charge (cash or check).

Discovered over 100 years ago, the Alexander Technique has been shown to be extremely effective in reducing chronic back pain by teaching the individual how to use the body better in rest and daily activities.

In this one hour class you will understand how postural misalignment, habit and daily stress contribute to back trouble. You will learn simple and effective ways to rest. We will look at the best anatomical coordination of your body in daily movements, and spend time learning how to use gravity to support us in sitting and standing.  Please contact the library to register.

Presenter Bio:  Michaela Hauser-Wagner is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, who began to study the Alexander Technique, when her adolescent daughter developed scoliosis. Originally from Germany and trained as a Speech, Language and Voice Therapist, she is bringing a background in anatomical and neurological connections to this work, combined with an understanding how efficient breath is essential for all aspects of health and wellbeing. Michaela is seeing individual students and small groups in her Cheshire practice since 2006.
