Discovered over 100 years ago, the Alexander Technique has been shown to be extremely effective in reducing chronic back pain by teaching the individual how to use the body better in rest and daily activities.

In this one hour class you will understand how postural misalignment, habit and daily stress contribute to back trouble. You will learn simple and effective ways to rest. We will look at the best anatomical coordination of your body in daily movements, and spend time learning how to use gravity to support us in sitting and standing.  Please contact the library to register.

Presenter Bio:  Michaela Hauser-Wagner is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, who began to study the Alexander Technique, when her adolescent daughter developed scoliosis. Originally from Germany and trained as a Speech, Language and Voice Therapist, she is bringing a background in anatomical and neurological connections to this work, combined with an understanding how efficient breath is essential for all aspects of health and wellbeing. Michaela is seeing individual students and small groups in her Cheshire practice since 2006.

Stop by any time throughout the day and play with some of our fabulous new educational toys, which we were able to purchase thanks to an LSTA Grant (funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services)*. 

Literacy and Make & Take activities will be available for families to have fun with, and light refreshments will be provided in the afternoon. We hope you can join us!
