Brentwood Library Hosts Unique Art Workshop
Do you like those paint and twist nights?  How about paintings that are a bit, well, twisted? Brentwood Library is hosting a fun art workshop for adults (age 16+) of all skill levels.  Bring a friend to the 'Altered Art - Thrift Store Paintings' event on Sunday, April 30, from 1:30-3:30pm, at the Brentwood Library located at 3501 Brownsville Rd 15227. Laura Sippos, a local artist and experienced instructor, will guide you through transforming a thrift store painting into a unique piece of art that is a real conversation starter.  The workshop fee of $30 per person covers one large or two small paintings, instruction, all materials, snacks, beverages, and lots of laughs. Take a look at some Thrift Store Altered Art examples at www.facebook.com/LauraSipposArt. Registration info, art examples, and details at http://brentwoodpubliclibrary.org/ or call 412-882-5694. Advance reservation with payment is required - cash, checks, and major credit cards are accepted. Spaces are limited.  Be one of the first to join this hot new trend!

Calling all cooks! This group that meets the third Tuesday of every month (except November, when it's the second Tuesday) is for cooks of all ages and all skill levels. At these pot-luck style mettings, you supply the food, and the library supplies drinks, untensils, dishes, etc. The library also makes cook books available according to each theme. June's theme is "America's Test Kitchen." This PBS cooking show is hosted by Cook's Illustrated editor-in-chief Christopher Kimball and offers tried and true recipes that "improve" or "fix" food dishes that typically flop or are just blah. We'll do our own testing to see how ATK's recipes stand up. Join us! Call Tracy at 412-882-5694 with questions or to join the club.

August's theme is Vegetarian Appetizers. Each year we devote at least one month to vegetarian dishes, and this year we're focusing on apps. You can take a "non-veggie" favorite and adapt it, or you can choose one of thousands of vegetarian apps to make. Join us! Call Tracy at 412-882-5694 with questions or to join the club.
