THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE

by Martin McDonagh

directed by Judith Swift

May 2 - June 2

In a dimly lit kitchen in a shabby cottage in a backwater village in the west of Ireland, selfish, conniving Mag (Wendy Overly) and her embittered 40-year-old virginal daughter, Maureen (Jeanine Kane), stew in mutual loathing. When Maureen is offered a last chance at love, she sees an opportunity to escape. But Mag has other ideas, setting in motion a chain of betrayals and tragedy, both heartbreaking and hilarious. With savage irony, the first in McDonagh's multi-award-winning "Leenane Trilogy" of tragicomedies - The Beauty Queen of Leenane, A Skull in Connemara, The Lonesome West (Gamm Season 21) - surprises audiences through to its horrifying conclusion http://www.gammtheatre.org

See Josh Gates in person! The host of SyFy's show Destination Truth!

http://www.stadiumtheatre.com/Event/341

For five seasons, adventurer Josh Gates has taken viewers around the world and off the map in a thrilling search for the truth behind the world's most enduring mysteries. As the host and Co-Executive Producer of the hit Syfy Channel series, Destination Truth, Josh has set foot in more than ninety countries, blending his unique brand of humor with a passion for exploration. Also, he eats very gross things and changes a lot of flat tires. Usually while swearing.

Each week, Gates and his intrepid team set out to investigate age-old legends, recent cryptozoological sightings, and paranormal reports. The groundbreaking series is regarded as one of the most globe-spanning shows on television, touching down in nearly twenty countries each season (take that, Amazing Race). The show features remote and often never-before-filmed locations, from the distant mountains of Bhutan to the cannibal jungles of Papua New Guinea.

Other expeditions include the first ever overnight filming in the infamous tomb of King Tut as well as the sprawling temple of Angkor Wat. The team also made headlines by spending an entire night in the shadow of the world’s worst nuclear accident at Chernobyl. Arguably not Josh's best idea. A mysterious “Yeti” footprint recovered by Josh in the Himalayas is now on display at the Expedition Everest attraction at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.

For the last five years, Josh has served as the host of the immensely popular Ghost Hunters Live, in which he attempts to not freeze to death while broadcasting for six hours straight in the freezing cold. In 2011, the Halloween special made Syfy the #1 rated cable network in primetime (and made Josh the #1 human popsicle in primetime). In 2010, Josh hosted the live 100th episode of Ghost Hunters from the historic stage of Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center. He has also appeared on The Today Show, CNN, and a variety of other national television and radio programs.

More of Josh’s travels are chronicled in his bestselling book, “Destination Truth: Memoirs of a Monster Hunter,” which was published by Simon and Schuster in 2011.

Radio industry quarterly, FMQB, describes Love Dogs' concerts as "soulful vocals, killer grooves, unpredictability and pure entertainment play equal parts." Sound fun? You bet! This Boston-based septet is populated with Berklee School of Music alums and sought-after sessions musicians who make up the major horn section, a string section of boogie-woogie piano & blistering guitar, & a rhythm section called "the best in the business" by Blues Review Magazine. Run-DMC sampled them and their music is used in films and TV. The New York Post says "Even though the music could make Leonardo's David dance, it's the songwriting that separates these dogs from the rest of the pack." Blues Review agrees, "If there were a Superbowl for crowd pleasing rhythm & blues, a photo of The Love Dogs would be on every Wheaties box in America." This experience will be so energizing you'll feel like you've eaten your Wheaties, too! The Dogs newest CD is "Live and On Fire." http://www.chanseggrollsandjazz.com/calendar.htm

Biking in the Blackstone Valley is more than recreation – Join us and learn about Rhode Island's historic Blackstone River Valley. Residents and visitors can enjoy a fun and relaxing way to experience the heritage, culture, nature and recreation of the Valley, with Blackstone Valley Leisurely Bicycle Tours.

This tour lasts 4 hours, but no need to worry – we ride at a very leisurely pace, stop often and is appropriate for all fitness levels. We peddle through four Blackstone Valley communities and talk about the history, culture, manufacturing and little known facts and stories while riding through charming back streets and the Blackstone Valley Bikepath.

Participants have only three requirements: bring your own bicycle, your own bike helmet and know how to ride.

Space is limited to keep groups small. We require reservations in advance. Alternatively, you can turn up at our meeting point and take your chances.

Cost: $20 per person, free parking.

New for 2013 our Leisurely Bicycle Tours will be operating from two locations: In Pawtucket, from the Blackstone Valley Visitor, 175 Main Street, and in Lincoln, from the Blackstone River State Park Visitor Center, located off Interstate 295 north.

2013 BURRillville Family fair

The Family Fair is changing this year!  The event is moving to a new venue and The Burrillville Parks and Recreation Department is collaborating with the Farmer’s Market, RE:discover store, and the Jesse Smith Library to offer a family fair that will not disappoint! This year’s theme is “Old Time Family Fun Fair” and will feature traditional fair activities and games with an old fashioned twist.  There will be plenty of food, demonstrations, and fun for the whole family.  Informational booths of local and statewide organizations that offer family oriented services will be on hand as well.

The event is scheduled for June 15th from 9-1 at the Still Water Mill Center. Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department for more information – parksandrec@burrillville.org or 401-568-9470.

The 2013 Leisurely Bicycle tours will operate on the following dates and locations. All tours are round trip and run 9 am – 1 pm.

For these nosy neighbors, the ultimate reality show is just an apartment away!

http://www.stadiumtheatre.com/Event/340

Rather Dapper Entertainment proudly presents 'Neighbors', an original dark romantic comedy about a married couple who live in an apartment where the walls are paper thin and the rent is dirt cheap! He is a multi millionaire who lives a normal life, shies away from the spotlight and donates all his money to various charities. She is tired of living a normal life and wishes to live a life of luxury. They argue all the time and unbeknownst to them are surrounded by nosey neighbors who enthusiastically listen in on every word!

Written and directed by David Valentin, Vice president of Rather Dapper Entertainment.

Rather Dapper Entertainment is a non profit theater company founded by Ross Gavlin in 2012. Our focus is to create opportunities for college students in Rhode Island to engage in the arts with a main focus on theater.

All profits from this event will be donated to the Feinstein Foundation.

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is a high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. It's the zany new 1920's musical that has taken Broadway by storm, winning the TONY Award for BEST MUSICAL!

http://www.stadiumtheatre.com/Event/345

Taking place in New York City in 1922, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers.

Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villain audiences will love to hate, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment. And with the role of Millie Dillmount, musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE!

    Contact: Stadium Theatre   401-762-4545   info@stadiumtheatre.com

Defending the Caveman holds the record as the longest running solo play in Broadway history. Caveman is also now a worldwide rock-solid tour de force that has won the hearts of millions and it's sure to win yours. Caveman has been seen in 45 countries and translated into 18 different languages (and counting!).

http://www.stadiumtheatre.com/Event/203

A hilariously insightful play about the ways men and women relate, Caveman has both sexes roaring with laughter and recognition. Affectionate nudging between audience members occurs during the performance as they recognize themselves in the stories being told on stage.

Defending the Caveman makes us laugh at ourselves about all the ways men and women fight, laugh and love. That’s why couples all across America and around the world are in love with Defending the Caveman.

The wildly popular comedy Defending the Caveman was written by Rob Becker over a 3-year period during which he made an informal study of anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology and mythology. Caveman has since become a peacemaker in the ongoing misunderstandings between men and women.

Caveman originally opened in San Francisco in 1991 and soon moved to Dallas. After a year in Dallas --now an unqualified hit-- Caveman went on to sold-out engagements in Washington DC, Philadelphia and Chicago, before opening on Broadway in 1995. After running two and a half years, playing 702 performances at the Helen Hayes Theater, Caveman entered the record books as the longest running solo play in Broadway history.

Caveman has been touring theaters all around America and around the globe ever since.

While the smash hit Jersey Boys is a scripted musical biography of The Four Seasons, Oh What a Night! is a loving concert and tribute, which features all the original hits as well as several top 10 releases that are not in the Broadway Tony award-winning musical.

The cast of Oh What a Night! will entertain you with informative and often hilarious banter, but they will not try to impersonate Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Instead, Oh What a Night will focus all of their energy into recreating the hits of The Four Seasons with such accuracy that you won't believe your ears! The end result of this unique approach is a show that is as fresh and relevant today as it is nostalgic for the purists. You will get to know and love the four dynamic talented cast members, and you will cheer louder and louder with each exciting song they perform!

This exhilarating musical revue has been thrilling audiences with great choreography, boundless energy, humor and of course, instantly recognizable classic pop songs!

SHREK THE MUSICAL, based on the Oscar winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre -- not a handsome prince -- shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.

Full of all-new songs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery, SHREK THE MUSICAL is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

This international smash-hit may be the most popular musical in the world!

In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter. His world-view shattered, Javert commits suicide, and Valjean at last attains the peace he has sought for so long.

Epic, grand and uplifting, LES MISÉRABLES packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world. The sung-through pop opera is ideal for a cast of exceptional singers and overflows with melodies that are already standards. A spectacle on Broadway and in London, LES MISÉRABLES is equally effective with a minimal set; it is its powerful affirmation of the human spirit that has made LES MISÉRABLES a popular masterpiece.

The Ghost Army tells the astonishing true story of American G.I.s - many of whom would go on to have illustrious careers in art, design and fashion - who tricked the enemy with rubber tanks, sound effects, and visual illusions during the Second World War.

http://www.stadiumtheatre.com/Event/356

The 23rd Headquarters Special Troops staged a traveling road show of deception designed to con the Germans right on the front lines. From Normandy to the Rhine, they conjured up phony convoys, phantom divisions, and make-believe headquarters to fool the enemy about the strength and location of American units. Every move they made was top secret and their story was hushed up for decades after the war's end.

Many of the men chosen to carry out these deceptions were young artists recruited from art schools across the country. In their spare time, they painted and sketched their way across Europe, creating a unique and moving visual record of their war. Some would go on to become famous, including fashion designer Bill Blass, painter Ellsworth Kelley and photographer Art Kane.

This one-hour documentary, produced and directed by author/filmmaker Rick Beyer, a Rhode Island native, features interviews with nineteen Ghost Army veterans, as well as retired general Wesley Clark and other military historians.

For the past two years, following the advice of Paul Shaffer of The Late Show with David Letterman, Brian embarked on a new musical venture... a Neil Diamond tribute band, called Simply Diamond. As per Paul Shaffer, "Brian is the best Neil Diamond tribute act out there". "His voice sounds like the real deal". "I've seen four of the biggest Neil Diamond tribute acts and this guy blows them all away".

http://www.stadiumtheatre.com/Event/348

Brian has appeared at many clubs in the Tri State NY metro area. Recently he was a guest on the Joey Reynolds radio show, another music legend, who worked with Neil Diamond at Bang Records and who broke many of Neil's hits on the radio back in the day. After Brian sang live , Joey said, "I can't tell the difference between Brian and Neil... if I closed my eyes I'd swear that Neil is here with me in the room".

What people are saying about Simply Diamond:

"I have personally seen four of the top Neil Diamond tribute acts in the country and this guy blows them all away!"
Paul Shaffer
Band leader of "Late Night With David Letterman"

"Attention all Neil Diamondheads! Brian LaBlanc will make you wish you still had your Hot August Night album. His show is a non-stop thrill."
Jo Maeder
author, voice artist,
cohost and once radio DJ on stations, WKTU, K-ROCK and Z100

"Neil Diamond never sounded better, very well done!! Also makes you realize how good he is. Great job Brian, I wish you and your band the best."

Drummer for the legendary band CHICAGO.

You're sure to love Tony's take on the music of Christmas in the style of Michael Bublé, and Harry Connick Jr!

http://www.stadiumtheatre.com/Event/361

This show includes a delicious catered dinner served in the Stadium's beautiful lobby! Dinner will be provided by River Falls Restaurant.

Breaking into the music scene in June of 2008, Tony Cerbo hit New England by storm. His extraordinary number of performances in the last several years is an indication of his phenomenal talent and the respect he has earned in the performers' circuit. The media has deemed him,"The next best thing to Michael Bublé himself." In response to this, however, Tony's admirable modesty is refreshing when he comments that he is simply doing what he loves to do- to sing with all his heart, ultimately delighting his audiences.

Tony is a native of Johnston, Rhode Island. His childhood memories of the recorded sounds of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, and Dean Martin playing in his home became the stimulus for his singing career. His ability to make the music of the 'Rat Pack' come alive once again is only rivaled by his accomplished renditions of the songs of Michael Bublé,  Elvis Presley, and Billy Joel, to name a few. Tony Cerbo's passion for music brings sentiment, romance, and excitement to his innovative shows.
