Preschool Storytime

Join us every Thursday for Preschool Storytime at the library. We will listen to stories, sing songs, and sometimes have a craft! This program is designed to promote early literacy skills for ages 3-5.

Registration is not required.

*No Storytime on Sept. 14th and October 12th will be our Monster Mash dance program*

New and seasoned creative writers welcomed. We will meet monthly on the third Thursday of the month from 6pm-8pm. Each gathering will include a brief discussion on narrative craft, time for sharing, and time for writing.

Do you love reading cookbooks and making new recipes? If so, then this is the club for you!! We pick the cookbook or theme, you select and make a recipe from that cookbook or theme.

Cook the Book will take place Wednesday, September 27th at 6pm. Join us for some fun eating and book discussion!

Feel the chill when apparitions and supernatural happenings occupy the library as Haunted Pittsburgh keeps us on the edge of our seats with their well-researched, hair-raising stories about Pittsburgh’s haunted places and ghosts, as well as a few ghoulish and insightful tales about some of The Burgh’s more prominent historical figures.

Join us when author, investigative journalist, and true crime podcaster JAMES RENNER will be here to talk about his book LITTLE, CRAZY CHILDREN.

Set in the idyllic, upscale community of Shaker Heights, OH, Little, Crazy Children examines the 1990 investigation into the murder of 16-year-old Lisa Pruett, who was found stabbed to death behind her boyfriend's family's mansion. Tragically, the case remains unsolved. Renner's dedicated investigation highlights the case's troubling aftershocks as well as the disquieting secrets teens will tell and keep. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Program will last 1-hour.

This event is the third program in our women only series. For it, we will gather for a magically fun social jamboree. Please conjure up a favorite appetizer or something sweet or mix up a cauldron of your best alchemical brew (non-alcoholic) and bring it with you for sharing. During the jamboree, stop by The Crafty Witch Table to create a potion or spell, then test your powers of recall at The Literary Witch Table.

Registration is required by Saturday, October 21st at the latest. 

*Also available at The Jamboree will be Tarot or Oracle readings (your choice) by Michele and Rune Stone Readings by Susan. Readings will run between 15-20 minutes each and the cost per reading will be $20 payable to the reader the evening of the event. Registration by timeslot is required. Contact the library by calling 412-563-4552 or stop by the front desk to register. There are a limited number of timeslots available, and registration is on a first come basis.
