Join author Michael Cannell as he discusses his new book Incendiary:The Psychiatrist, The Mad Bomber, and the Invention of Criminal Profiling. This book details the infamous serial criminal from Waterbury also know as the "Mad Bomber" who terrorized the streets of Manhattan in the 1950's. In a page-turning narrative that reads more like a thriller than a historical account, INCENDIARY gives us a portrait of the charismatic characters and their race-against-the-clock plot to take down the Mad Bomber. INCENDIARY also gives a fascinating account of the origins of criminal profiling and concepts that were ahead of their time. Seating is limited and registration is required. misc_none 10:00 AM  -  11:00 AM Baby Signing Time: Play and Sign Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact: Lucas Franklin   2032722245   lfranklin@cheshirelibrary.org

When a baby waves "bye-bye" or points at what she wants, she is signing! It is natural for babies to communicate with signs. Baby Signing Time Play and Sign classes give babies the signs they need to express their needs and wants. Original and clever songs make learning signs fun and easy. Baby Signing Time Play and Sign classes teach American Sign Language (ASL). ASL signs are straightforward and are easy for parents, caregivers and children to learn. As a parent or caregiver, you do not need to become fluent in ASL, even learning a few signs like ‘milk’, ‘eat’ and ‘more’ can be helpful.

Signing with your hearing child is effective in reducing tantrums and frustration, creates a wonderful opportunity for bonding, and research has suggested that signing encourages an interest in books and higher IQ scores than babies who did not use hand gestures.

Ages birth to 2 years with caregiver.

This program will meet two times: June 21 and 28.  You only need to register once to attend both sessions.

Registration required. Registration opens for Cheshire residents on June 1.  Out of town registration begins June 14th.

A born sounder and mover, your baby is already equipped with the means and potential to make music. You've probably noticed how they respond when you play a song in the car or sing them a song to soothe them. Developing your baby's natural musicality will open the door to a world of possibility, not only for music learning but for all learning. We invite you to try out this demonstration of a Music Together Babies Class for families with infants from birth through eight months of age. In this class, the activities are specifically designed to teach you how to support music development in infancy and how to connect with your baby through music using methods such as "purposeful touch", "sound-layering",  and "dancing for baby".

Music Together an internationally recognized early childhood music program. This research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum strongly encourages adult involvement and emphasizes actual music experiences rather than concepts about music.

Join us for this fascinating documentary Pearl Harbor: Into the Arizona. The USS Arizona has been resting on Pearl Harbor's ocean floor for the past 75 years. For the first time since it was destroyed in 1941, scientists have the technology to take an in-depth look inside the ship. Once considered the pride of its fleet, the Arizona has taken on drastic changes in the shallow waters of the Pearl. This comprehensive search of the USS Arizona sheds light on one of the darkest days in American history. The discoveries made inside the ship are a stark reminder of all those who paid the ultimate price for their country. The expedition retells personal stories of survivors who lived through Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. It also brings a survivor who was aboard the Arizona back to see the ship for what might be one last time. A sight he never thought he'd see again.
