    Contact: Kimberly White   203-272-2245 x 33034   kwhite@cheshirelibrary.org

A born sounder and mover, your baby is already equipped with the means and potential to make music. You've probably noticed how they respond when you play a song in the car or sing them a song to soothe them. Developing your baby's natural musicality will open the door to a world of possibility, not only for music learning but for all learning. We invite you to try out this demonstration of a Music Together Babies Class for families with infants from birth through eight months of age. In this class, the activities are specifically designed to teach you how to support music development in infancy and how to connect with your baby through music using methods such as "purposeful touch", "sound-layering",  and "dancing for baby".

Music Together an internationally recognized early childhood music program. This research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum strongly encourages adult involvement and emphasizes actual music experiences rather than concepts about music.

This program is for babies (newborn through 8 months) and their caregivers. In order to give our youngest patrons a safe space of their own, we request no older siblings, please

When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother (Catherine O'Hara) makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) plan to rob the McCallister residence, and that he alone must protect the family home.

Come enjoy some great box office kids’ movies with Fab Films at The Cheshire Public Library!

The BFG: Steven Spielberg directed this adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved novel, which centers on the unlikely friendship between a lonely orphan named Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) and the titular "big friendly giant" (brought to life via a motion-capture performance from Mark Rylance). Together, the pair explore Giant Country and collect dreams; later, they try to warn the Queen of England (Penelope Wilton) about the threat posed by the other giants, who, unlike the vegetarian BFG, eat children for sustenance. The BFG made its world premiere at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, and is dedicated to the memory of screenwriter Melissa Mathison (who also wrote the script for Spielberg's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial). Rebecca Hall, Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, and Rafe Spall co-star. Author: Jack Rodgers

Through the repetition of basic physical skills in play, children perfect their abilities and become competent in increasingly difficult physical tasks. Active play facilitates children’s sensorimotor development, which is proper coordination between brain signals and the movement of the body. Hand-eye coordination is also improved through play, as well as the development of strong, agile muscles.

Children are natural yogis! Yoga can help children to develop body and breath awareness, build concentration and focus, and increase their confidence and self-expression. Mindfulness techniques train you to pay attention to those things in the present moment in a nonjudgmental and accepting manner. This gives children the opportunity to stop and choose a response thoughtfully rather than reacting impulsively.
