Our August pick for the Cheshire Cats Classics Book Club is To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf.
The novel that established Virginia Woolf as a leading writer of the 20th century, To the Lighthouseis made up of three powerfully charged visions into the life of one family living in a summer house off the rocky coast of Scotland. As time winds its way through their lives, the Ramsays face, alone and simultaneously, the greatest of human challenges and it greatest triumph--the human capacity for change. A moving portrait in miniature of family life, it also has profoundly universal implications, giving language to the silent space that separates people and the space that they transgress to reach each other.
There are very few exceptional and miraculous novels that have the power to change their readers forever. To the Lighthouse is one.

Do you love building with Lego blocks or Mega blocks? Then Builders Brigade is the program for you!
This program will occur once per month for children of all ages (no registration required). NOTE: Children ages 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
BY POPULAR DEMAND, STARTING IN MAY 2013 WE WILL BE OFFERING THE PROGRAM 2 TIMES EACH MONTH!
Kids have the opportunity to use their best creativity to design buildings, creatures, and more using Lego and Mega blocks. They can work alone, or in a team with peers. A different theme is picked for each session and kids can build on that theme or build a creation of their own. At the end of each session, kids can put their creations on display at the library for all to see until the next club is scheduled!
Check out the program's blog for cool photos and updates: cheshirelibrarybuilders.wordpress.com!
