           Drop in the Children’s Dept. on Fridays for TGIF: Tinkering, Games, Ideas, and Fun”.  All supplies, materials, and directions for a different activity, craft, game, or puzzle each week will be set up in the Children’s Dept. for anyone who stops in on Fridays.  This is not a set program, but a DIY event throughout the day.  Each activity is be self-guided; younger children must have an adult with them.

When you think of jazz towns in America, New Orleans and New York are obvious choices that come to mind, but Pittsburgh has also played an important role in the evolution of jazz – often called the one true American Art Form.

The Jazz Committee of the Senator John Heinz History Center’s Volunteer Ambassador Program, in association with the California University of Pennsylvania Music Department, has put together a series of presentations celebrating jazz in Western Pennsylvania.

Learn about the history and evolution of jazz in Pittsburgh as well as the lives and music of jazz legends such as Billy Strayhorn, Henry Mancini, Erroll Garner, Johnny Costa, Art Blakey, Billy Eckstine, Earl Hines, Maxine Sullivan, Ray Brown and Mary Lou Williams.

Fall Story Time Registration

         Registration begins Tuesday, September 13 for the fall sessions of Preschool and Toddler Story Times, and the Story Times themselves begin in October.

  • Preschool Story Time, for ages 3-5, is on Tuesdays, 2:00 – 2:30, from October 4 through December 6. 
  • Toddler Story Times are on Wednesday mornings from October 5 through December 7.  Toddler Story Times are:  10:30 – 11:00 for ages 1 ½ to 2 years, and 11:30 – 12:00 for ages 2 ½ to 3 years.

         Registration is required for all story times.  Call 724-222-2400, ext. 235 or stop in the Children’s Dept. for more information or to register; “Parent’s Guide to Story Time” brochures are available at the desk.

Support Citizens Library with WCCF Gives on September 13th, 2016 between 8am and 8pm through the Washington County Community Foundation's website, www.wccfgives.org , and have your gift increased by a percentage of a $100,000 bonus pool!

In addition to collecting online credit card donations, the WCCF will also accept contributions via check, which will be eligible for the bonus pool if they are received at the Foundation by 8pm on Gives day.
