It may be the middle of winter but it’s time to start planning your programs for Summer Reading 2010! Performers who will be offering “green” programs this summer will be on hand to talk with you about what they have to offer. Drop in anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and see what’s new. (This will be an informal program – you don’t need to stay the entire time!) Bring your calendar and sign up for a date on the spot! Performers will not be presenting programs – this is a “meet and greet” only.

Get more from your spreadsheets! Topics to be covered include custom number formats and rounding numbers, relative and absolute cell referencing, sharing a workbook for multi-user editing, revision tracking, worksheet and workbook level protection, importing a Word table, copying Excel data to Word and PowerPoint, and Pivot Tables. A follow-up to basic Excel, participants should be comfortable with basic data entry and creating simple formulas and calculations. Barbara Andrews of Andrews Consulting will lead this workshop.

It’s all about libraries on the go and mobile access to information. The focus is on how libraries are using PDAs, handhelds and other mobile technologies. Likely topics: the Mobile Market, the Devices, the Mobile Optimized Web, the Transcoded Web, Mobile Search, Mobile Audio and Multimedia, SMS/Texting, Staying Updated. Hosted jointly by Worcester Public Library and ARC.
Note: This is a 2-day program: Wednesday, February 17 AND Thursday, February 18.
Please let us know when you register if you’ll need a box lunch ($10).

While the conference runs from 11:00-7:00 Eastern Time, WPL closes at 5:30. Therefore, we will present the conference from 11:00 to 4:00 on both days. This will include all keynotes and 1, 2, 3 tracks’ sessions scheduled before 4:00 pm.

Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is happening in your life, a way of taking charge of your life, a way of doing something for yourself that no one else can do for you — consciously and systematically working with your own stress, pain, illness, and the challenges and demands of everyday life.
