It may be the middle of winter but it’s time to start planning your programs for Summer Reading 2010! Performers who will be offering “green” programs this summer will be on hand to talk with you about what they have to offer. Drop in anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and see what’s new. (This will be an informal program – you don’t need to stay the entire time!) Bring your calendar and sign up for a date on the spot! Performers will not be presenting programs – this is a “meet and greet” only.

Please note – if Boxborough schools are closed due to weather, the program will be cancelled.

The Basic Library Techniques (BLT) series is designed for non-MLS public library directors in communities with a population under 10,000. Other library staff may attend this workshop; however, priority will be given to those directors who are taking this workshop to fulfill the materials selection requirement for MA State Aid Certification.

A 30-minute lunch break will be provided. The workshop will be led by Barbara Andrews of Andrews Consulting.

NOTE: This is session 2 of 2. The first session meets Thursday, April 29. Please register for both sessions.

Public libraries (Perry Library in AZ, Darien Library in CT) are beginning to abandon the Dewey Decimal Classification in favor or BISAC (used in the book industry). Is a browsing system like BISAC better/easier for patrons? What about those involved in research? Can DDC be adapted/improved? Given this trend, does your library plan any changes to the way its collection is organized? This discussion is led by CMRLS consultant Dodie Gaudet using GoToWebinar.
