Learn, Explore, Discover! Join DCLS at Storytime and give your child a solid foundation for their future! Storytimes aren’t just entertaining, they’re educational! Attending Storytimes helps your child develop a love of reading and provides early learning skills that will help your child succeed in school and in life. Songs, rhymes and finger plays promote self-expression and creativity, expand vocabulary and heighten phonological awareness. Storytelling fosters both receptive and expressive language, encourages listening and comprehension skills, and models narrative skills and communication. Parents and caregivers learn tips and tricks that they can use at home to continue the learning throughout the day.

Explore the world of healthy eating (and cooking) with books, rhymes, songs and, of course, food! Each week, we'll explore a different type of food or meal and how to prepare it together. We'll even toss in some math and science activities and listen to stories that relate to the food we're learning about. It all adds up to a delicious time for everyone. Children or parents with a food allergy should call Youth Services Programming & Outreach at 566-0949 x 217 for more information.
