Learn, Explore, Discover! Join DCLS at Storytime and give your child a solid foundation for their future! Storytimes aren’t just entertaining, they’re educational! Attending Storytimes helps your child develop a love of reading and provides early learning skills that will help your child succeed in school and in life. Songs, rhymes and finger plays promote self-expression and creativity, expand vocabulary and heighten phonological awareness. Storytelling fosters both receptive and expressive language, encourages listening and comprehension skills, and models narrative skills and communication. Parents and caregivers learn tips and tricks that they can use at home to continue the learning throughout the day.

What says summer more than bright colors and fun? Bring a t-shirt (you must bring your own t-shirt, there will not be any available at the programs) and your imagination to make your own summer statement. If you want you can bring a different dye-able item such as a pillowcase, canvas bag, etc.

Children are introduced to yoga poses and the letters of the alphabet. Participants are introduced to each letter of the alphabet through vocal pronunciation of the letter and yoga poses related to words that begin with the letter. Each letter features a corresponding yoga pose (A for airplane, L for lion, for example). The program also includes sign language words. This program is sure to spark learning of both language and body movement.
