Tuesday, February 16 at 10am until Noon

Council Room, 121 Park Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081

For Adult Participants

Come join Ginny Conover and Linnie Kerrigan-Greenberg for a fun, collaborative 2-hour collage workshop. No skills required. All materials supplied. The Library will pay your materials fee, so please RSVP

If desired, bring photocopy of personal photo, ephemera or other memorabilia.  (Not necessary – you will still create a personalized work of art that reflects you and you’re your interests using images and materials provided.)

Collage is a very old art form with beginnings in Asia.  Picasso and Braque popularized the medium and brought it into the realm of Fine Art in the 1940s. It’s the most democratic and forgiving of all art genres. Anyone can do it.

Register for the workshop today.

Virginia Conover (Ginny) and Linnie Kerrigan-Greenberg (Linnie) are professional artists who offer collage workshops and lectures throughout the Delaware Valley.

All programs are free and open to the public.  To register, please call 610-543-0436 or email swarthmore@delcolibraries.org.  LIMITED TO 12.

Book description, per Wikipedia:

"The Phantom Tollbooth is a children's adventure novel and modern fairy tale by Norton Juster. It was published in 1961 with illustrations by Jules Feiffer. It tells the story of a bored young boy named Milo who unexpectedly receives a magic tollbooth one afternoon and, having nothing better to do, decides to drive through it in his toy car.

The tollbooth transports him to a land called the Kingdom of Wisdom. There he acquires two faithful companions, has many adventures, and goes on a quest to rescue the princesses of the kingdom—Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason—from the castle in the air. The text is full of puns, and many events, such as Milo's jump to the Island of Conclusions, exemplify literal meanings of English language idioms.

Children can come to the library and practice reading to the best listener - a dog! Three therapy dog teams will be at the library to meet with beginning and reluctant readers and to listen to children (Kindergartners and older) read a book of their choice. This is also an ideal opportunity for English language learners.

Held the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month. Registration required. Each child will get a timeslot within the 6:30-7:30 window. Email Miss Devon at swcsd@delcolibraries.org to request a specific time.
